Huge problem here? No one on the team is playing well outside of Monahan and Gaudreau. How is Bennett supposed to be this shining diamond amongst all the muck?

It isn't? I guess if he is not concerned about where he is going or how soon he can move on, then, sure. But if he wants this resolved quickly I would imagine that he is eager to do what he can to facilitate it. This is nothing like moving Pierre-Luc Dubois: the longer this drags on it hurts Bennett much more than it does the Flames.

Yes it is. If he can't be traded then won't decent contract when he's a FA this summer.
In fact, his value is literally his biggest problem and most likely the reason he asked for a trade.

Especially since he's been a clump of dirt that sunk to the bottom of all that muck?

Just get him back in the lineup, it’s not as if the others are doing any better. Certainly the Flames do not have a full top 6 anyways. I still see only four top six players In the Flames starting lineup.

It would be better to make the trade sooner rather than later, but no need to rush it if the offers aren't there.

Yeah, I would think Tre was probably pretty pissed at Bennett and his agent.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they took some time to sort it out and even if there is no trade out there looking good, the scratch could be a punishment of sorts. Dirty laundry gets out, you can sit. You’re not playing so well that we won’t send a message

Trade him or get him back in the dang lineup. Ward can only be a meanie to someone who wants out I guess. Shameful.

Looks like this is turning into the distraction that we feared Bennett's agent hoped it would be.

So it's looking more and more like Bennett sitting was completely performance related?

Sam Bennett can be traded today. It's up to Tre to make the move. Whether he gets a 2nd or 4th rounder is of no interest to Bennett.

Monahan is playing well? Johnny is playing better than last year, but remains a turnover machine, and still loses every contested puck near the boards.

But Treliving is not just going to move him for anything. Bennett will have to wait until the Flames get the deal they want (or at least the deal they can live with).

Sam Bennett is not some secret we were hiding. GMs know what Sam Bennett brings to the table. A couple good games doesn't re-write the Sam Bennett book.

I totally agree. So, where is the urgency for the Flames to move him?

Treliving will be forced to trade him at some point. Regardless of the return.
Again, this is a Treliving problem not Sam Bennett. Treliving needs to ice a winning team. Bennett can sign a cheap contract and play his value up, if it's there.

If this distracts the entire team, then it further confirms that this team is really fragile.

Treliving won't be forced to do anything and it is 50% a Sam Bennett problem.
Sam's the one desperate to be moved so he can play for his next contract. Flames are likely happy to ride him into the sunset and then let him leave in FA.
But I'm sure you're right and Sam will be happy to sign for league minimum since he doesn't care about his value.
