Yeah, there were only a few teams that actually could have claimed him without somehow dumping salary.
I think any team taking DeAngelo is going to want a pretty good sweetener as well.

Someone mentioned lucic for deangelo, bench him, buy him out, as a work around to buy out lucic. That would be acceptable.

Nope. Not in the slightest. I just thought that’s how the game was played.

Not a chance IMO.
Larry Brooks is a worse reporter than Francis.
Multiple people (Boomer, Francis, Steinberg) all said that they reached out to Flames management who said they have no interest.

Love it, hopefully Tre pulls it off. Team needs an identity, why can’t that be a team of scumbags.

Well that would be it for me caring about this team until Treliving is gone.
I just don't believe this would happen.

Is this bigot of a player any good?
Does he have any Nazi tattoos? Cuz that's where I draw the line.

I haven't followed this closely. Is there any actual evidence of what this guy has said or done outside of speculation?
I don't give a crap who he votes for.
The bits I've read here and there seem to say that he said something, don't know what, in juniors to get him suspended. Also he got in a fight with a teammate, is there any actual credible information?

Imagine the Flames getting DeAngelo and expecting Ward to reign him in.
The ONLY way you can bring in a player like that is with a coach like Darryl Sutter.
I also don't think Giordano is the type of captain that would make it work. You need a strong personality.

I can't see why the Rangers would want to add salary on an anchor when they could save money and buy out DeAngelo themselves.
Also, are there 100% solid grounds for a buyout if the Flames traded for him?

A lot of the reason people dont like his is his Alt-Right world view.

The Flames can unilaterally buy out anybody they want. It'll just have to wait until the offseason.

Lucic has a NMC I very highly doubt he would waive it

You don't think Lucic would waive to leave Calgary for NYC?

I doubt it.
COVID means everything has changed and no more so than for guys with young families like Looch.
He would likely not see his family for the rest of the year.

If we lose Looch AND Bennett, we're one of the softest teams in the league.
