I hate the fact that the media will never bring up the coaching issues or the lack of the GM hiring a proven coach.

No accountability for anyone at this point.

In a tight game he could be telling his D to make sure they are never two deep. He could be limiting Backlund and Tkachuk who have been terrible tonight. He could put Lindholm on the top line. He could sit Lucic's slow ass down. He could try the stretch pass breakout to not allow Winnipeg to set up their team defense.

I can't recall a time I gave seen this team so disjointed, disinterested and slow. There is a reason good coaches are expensive, because they are worth it.

Apparently Trelieving was bored bargain bin hunting head coaches, so he bargain bin hunted a PP coach instead. Real 4d chess here.

It’s not the coach. And don’t give me that lazy “we never had an elite coach” garbage. It’s a lazy argument based entirely in hypotheticals that’s impossible to prove or disprove.

What we CAN prove is that this core has had three coaches in 4 years and they get similar results.

It’s the players. They aren’t good enough. That’s it.
Average at best team.
Below average coach
Good starting goalie.

Coach is not the problem, but not part of the answer.

Don’t know. The buck has to stop somewhere. The additions this year, outside of markstrom and tanev are all busts. I’m prepared to watch a bit more, but this team’s forward group is not very good. In a division with deadly forward groups, including the one we’re playing tonight.

This is a beatdown.

This is what the team is. Bad team that will go on a hot steak to give us a glimmer of hope and maybe sneak into the playoffs. No identity, no difference makers 5v5, and an awful coaching staff. This team clearly needed a shakeup after last year but instead we get the same crappy play hard 10-20min and hope that's enough to win. It's weird how we are so focused on high hockey IQ in the draft, maybe that's going to show in the future but man do the players make a lot of dumb plays.

Unless there’s a coach who can somehow score 50 goals or at least give some consistent effort then we’re outta luck.

I hear ya. I was so excited now with Markstrom to have a legit team. We are absolutely wasting what he’s doing for us in net.

Just boring uninterested sloppy hockey.

I’d rather watch a team of young gun rookies go through growing pains being the under dog than this mess.

You’re right, the high minute guys have been terrible.

Tough to win when that happens.

Any man/woman or child who is not even a coach would notice these things and make changes if they had control of the bench. This is beyond frustrating. Get ready for top line Gio in the third!

I’m mainly arguing that hiring a new coach isn’t going to solve anything. I don’t have an issue with criticizing Ward but it gets tiresome reading about how we need to fire the coach every year while the one constant remains the same.

At some point it can’t be the coach again.

Who's even in the position to turf Treliving at this point?

Yeah I’d never question Bennett’s desire to help his team, even if he can’t actually help - I’d never question his desire to.

Ward is just incompetent though.

If the Oilers beat us up on Saturday, this is going to become a damn circus.

I don’t think he should be having to remind BOTH D not to be deep at the same time. And limiting Backlund who’d played fine (including the Flames goal) and Tkachuk, who is supposed to be the Flames’ top player?

Good grief.

The closed door meeting worked well for one day.

Watch them get spanked Saturday night.

Ward frustrates the heck out of me as a fan imagine how the players feel when the lazy ass bums keep getting rewarded. Would you try on such a team?
