I'd say Backlund deserves a pass. It's 9 games in and he's pretty much had to play with so many different wingers. Ward has mashed up the lines so much and he hasn't been able to get any consistency on who he plays with. 3rd liner with revolving wingers and still 6th in team scoring.

Don't know if I buy the 'getting killed' in the net front anymore. Literally anyone is better than Lucic in that spot. I think Mangiapane could handle it as he's tenacious enough.
Leivo would be up high alongside Hanifin.

The Calgary RW depth is atrocious and so is the Vancouver D.
With Hanifin playing as well as he is maybe his value has increased enough to swap him for a guy like Boeser now that the Hoglander kid has shown he can play top 6 wing in Vancouver.

That’d leave us with Giordano (shudder) and Valimaki on the left side (good), alongside Mackey.
Hanifin and Tanev have been excellent. Without that pairing and Markstrom in net, I genuinely don’t believe this team would have a win.

Why do these Eastern media types think we need a Deangelo, Mete, or Dermott. None of these players make sense for the Flames who are a good 8 deep on the blueline?
Flames need a forward back for Bennett with how poorly the bottom 6 has played.

This Canucks writer thinks it could cost upwards of Virtanen and Gaudette for Bennett. Despite how hilarious it would be to add 2 more Canucks to our roster getting both of those players for Bennett would be intriguing. Send Ryan to the taxi squad. 2 right hand shots and no quarantine
