That's not how trade value works.
Someone has to be willing to pay that price.
Brad has two options. Accept market value or don't trade him.
There is no magical third option where he forces another GM to pay more than they want or more than Bennett is worth.

Different circumstances.
Trade deadline, no covid protocols.....and no public knowledge the player wants a change of scenery.
If they get more than a 3rd....awesome, but im certainly not going to be disappointed if that happens. Maybe there are 1 or 2 GM's who have a real hckey crush on him...certainly possible.
He just doesnt seem to have great value though because...well...he just isnt all that great.

Maybe so, but the flames need a RW back in this trade. I guess trading for need can be dangerous, but otherwise I think you just keep Bennett

Sam Bennett is definitely a much better player than Sven Baertschi or Curtis Lazar but is also paid more handsomely for what he provides, so maybe Flames could get a 2nd if they took a similar contract back?

Hmm yeah, a deep defensive team needs more d men. I mean if a Bennett trade went down that way, I'd totally belive it because it's the treliving way after all. Must. Have. All. The. Defensemen.

Lol. 30 goal scorer, 54 points in his last full season before being traded. Had 40 goals, 78 points in his last 122 games before becoming an Oiler. Sam Bennett has 37 points in his last 122 games...They aren't remotely comparable.
