The point was actually a lot less about Bennett, and moreso about how much Gaudreau has benefitted from playing his entire career with Sean Monahan. The fact that Gaudreau struggled as mightily as he did when Monahan was last injured speaks volumes to his value. Both Monahan and Gaudreau have helped one another ALOT; their success has not been about one player making everything happen.

You have? Where?

I agreed with you! Back in this thread.

I also recall the line of Gaudreau Ryan and Bennet for 6 games... HOrrible deployment. Benny should have centered the line with a better right wing. Ryan is so bad. But six games isn't enough runway imo for chemistry to occur. Chemistry as intangible as it is in hockey is a thing. Neely in Vancouver, vs Neely in Boston. Iginla with and without Conroy. Gretzky with the oilers vs the kings.

Geez

HUGE gamble for both teams. Can't see either team being willing to take that risk against their primary rival.

Looking at benny's and monny's advanced stats is disturbing. Monny had twice as much time on ice last year. far fewer dzone starts and they basically had the same shot generation. sad panda

monny had 1270 mins last year

benny had 650

shot's for per 60

monny had 7.9

benny had 7.6

those are numbers that show me more than plus minus

heck i have even suggested to friends try benny at center with johnny and monny flanking him

Namestnikov seems like a fair ask?

Namestnikov would be an excellent add for Calgary. He was fun to watch in Ottawa last year.

I dig that. I was ordering a tomorrow move and a flyer move more so though. Build a package to acquire their top RW prospect and a flyer on E.Svechnikov.

See what a fresh start could do for Svech, bring the RW next year.

But I really like Namestnikov too.

namestnikov is good. If it's Ottawa we're dealing with I'd also be interested in Shane Pinto.

Yup. But it'd be fun. Especially if they both panned out lol.

Nammy is in Detroit now

But I like Pinto, too. Chris Tierney would also be intriguing from Ottawa.

But the guy from Ottawa who I would have the most interest in is Nick Paul. He's really turning into a good two-way player for them. He was the centrepiece coming from Dallas in the Spezza trade.

I think Paul has the toolbox to be a similar player to Mangiapane—but more physically present—in the right situation.

Puljujarvi is quickly becoming one of my favourite characters in the league. Hilarious dude. I don't care if he's an Oiler, I want to see him succeed.

Listening to Boomer interview Carolina's Tripp Tracy about an our ago, Tracy was lamenting the "easy to play against" makeup of the team. He says the biggest thing missing in Carolina is a guy with some grit and some skill. Someone who will answer the bell when needed.
I wonder if there is a fit there for Bennett?

Zacha and McLeod stand out to me a bit more though. Although I don't know if Jersey has an appetite to move either of them. Ppl here don't like McLeod much but I always have, his goals this year so far are the results of his speed, finish and hard work. All you could ask for.

Zacha is a beast. And has a laser shot too boot. Man I'd like that trade.

I could see a Bennett and Galchenyuk trade making sense for both teams. Swapping reclamation projects. Ottawa might have to add due to Bennett's RFA status.

And yet, somehow, despite all those shortcomings as a hockey player, Ryan has managed consistent +35-point production through every deployment, and regardless of his line mates.

Hilarious.

Out of one side of your mouth you talk about the elusiveness of chemistry over the course of a short-period of deployment.

Then, out of the other side of your mouth you point to several examples of players who saw immediate results in a lineup shuffle.

It is just very difficult to take you seriously.
