It's an unusual thing about Bennett that he elevates his game so much in the playoffs. If the Flames don't get someone who can play at playoff Bennett level, they will end up as a worse team in the games that matter most.

Nothing wrong with a little medicine from the coach if it inspires him to start playing with more emotion....which is the only thing that elevates his play in the playoffs.

He's a guy who handles the puck like a hand grenade and cannot even make a simple pass to his linemates. Heck he can't even muster a shot that can challenge an NHL goalie. There's no need to fear for who is replacing a guy like this when he's not using his best asset - physical, intense play.

Too many fans here are convinced he’s a lot worse than he is.

Bingo has done numerous statistical deep dives that demonstrate without a doubt that Bennett is a competent 3rd liner

Meh. Good riddance. He brings nothing of value to the team except a short stretch of playoffs where he seems to give a damn.
...yeah, better that we stick with players who don’t perform in the playoffs. That’s how you win in the playoffs, by sucking!

I'm going to be sad when Bennett is gone. I like what he brings to this team, versatile play up and down the ice, and still with potential to do more. If anything, I'd bring in another Bennett, not lose the one we have.

This sucks.

Hard to get to the playoffs when you have players like Bennett eating up ice time, taking bad offensive zone penalties and generally giving nothing to the team for the regular season.

Bennett is Curtis Lazar. It happens. Time to move on.

Well the team I cheer for doesn't give free rides to players who only show up for 5 games a season.

How do people feel if it was for Puljujarvi? He has found some groove in Edmonton though, so not sure if we see a trade across the Alberta teams.

This is a sell low situation by the team, if they do trade him.

Dear god, may it not be DeAngelo.

But he's also a low producing 3rd liner.
He was 335 last year in points amongst forwards
Which means in terms of production - he's a 4th liner.
He's a 4th liner producer with 3rd line underlying stats.
But at some point - the inability to translate those underlying metrics into actual production matters.

The team you cheer for might get more than 5 playoff games per season it had more players that showed up like Bennett does at that time of year.

I dont think either team would feel like they were getting fair value.

Also currently Poolparty is on their first line.

I like the idea of acquiring Puljujarvi but don't like the idea of Sam Bennett in Edmonton.

Meh, I would be fine with Pulju at this point. I doubt bennett will do anything of note and at least Pulju has SOME potential to tap into still. He scored a pretty great goal almost on his own against the senators last game (the first one). That is talent that Bennett has not shown since the florida game in his 2nd season lol.

No, good teams/players show up for regular season and playoffs.

The Sam Bennett playoff warrior myth is clearly spiralling out of control for some of you guys.

I just feel that Bennett going to any of our rivals, is going to come back and bite us in the ass. I also do want him to succeed.

Do not want Bennett staying in this division. Send him south, Brad.

Bennett's weird playoff statistical anomaly is probably more likely to regress than the Flames actual top players regressing to the mean.

Every team has a Bennett. A player that fans latch onto because he was drafted too high. Who at times in the year (playoffs, down the stretch, etc) outperforms their abilities and tantalizes fans to keep them interested.

Take away his draft pedigree and Bennett doesn't play in the NHL at his scoring rates. Which are terrible.
