I have personally not found any aspect of Bennett's skillet "tantalizing" since he played Juniour. At the NHL level he is a decent but unspectacular skater, he doesn't pass well, he has a poor shot, doesn't see the ice well, doesn't appear to think the game very well, and makes terrible use of his linemates.

Flames checked in because they are in on everyone. They better not trade for this guy.
Maloney traded for him in the past when he was with the Yotes if I am not mistaken?

You don’t do due diligence on this guy. They already didn’t do their due diligence on Peters. I’m hoping this tweet from McKenzie is not true.

I won’t go as extreme as some who say they will stop cheering for the flames but I will definitely be on the fire Treliving bandwagon if he makes a trade for this scumbag.

"Checked in" suggests that there are no serious talks taking place, but I wonder what it means in this context. Could it have to do with just getting information about the situation with no intent on making a deal? Is it just general information gathering? I bet this could mean several things beyond trade discussions.

The only acceptable way for the Flames to be involved would be the facilitating team in a 3-way trade where we don't end up with DeAngelo.

Asking for details about the situation could be "checking in." It doesn't have to mean there was ever any legitimate interest in acquiring the player.

........ wouldn’t you think doing that due diligence now would be a good way to avoid the Peters situation? Don’t do due diligence??? This doesn’t make any sense.

“Okay thanks, bye”.
