Hopefully DeAngelo learns from this and changes for the positive.
Pretty big failure to recover from...but those tend to be the opportunities to make our biggest change.
It's on him now.

Might this be a good time for the Flames to make a depth trade?
They can trade not-having-Neal for not-having-DeAngelo. It would be a significant upgrade on the quality of asses not in their system, and best of all, it wouldn't cost them a thing.

hard to claim a $4.8M player, but if you can trade another crappy player for him, then yeah, there will be interest in that

Can see Edmonton making a move here and getting rid of Neal.

I feel like any team that makes a trade for him at this point is going to be crisis management mode immediately once they see the backlash online, deservedly so.
I don't see a path for DeAngelo to ever play an NHL game again.

It would take at least two first round picks to offload Neal.

There's a lot of "reclamation projects" around the league over the years I would have been willing to give a shot, DeAngelo however is a resounding no. Maybe he'll pull his head out of his ass some day, but I have massive doubts he's smart enough.

Rangers won’t take a bad contract back. If that was the case they’d just buy him out in the summer. One year left at one third of his contract spread over two years is nothing.
If they eat half I can see interest in getting a 50+ point RH dman. It’s still a business.

This smells like either the Rangers or an agent trying to light a spark.

For DeAngelo? Oilers eat some salary and the trade happens Neal has two years left after this.
But Neal in general yup nobody is touching that contract.

The guy is a POS but he's a prime aged right shot Dman who put up 50+ points in a shortened season and is a controllable asset. Someone is going to give him a chance at some point.

Davidson was clearly doing damage control when he put out his statement. He still wants something back for his asset.
Now, the GM that trades for the guy will be exposed as someone who just doesn't value team chemistry for getting results. They just want a buffoon to get them wins at any cost and whomever makes that move should have a media write up to skewer them and their ownership. I'm not for ending a person's career, but this guy has had many run ins, and perhaps he needs to be sent down to drop a peg and earn his way up through changing his personality instead of being entitled.

He was already on his third or fourth chance in NY.
