And I wouldn't call giving a 22 year old defenseman some icetime "for the heck of it" anyways.
If Kylington isn't going to play he should be sent to the AHL.

To do what, exactly?

There are no AHL games right now anyway.

Nesterov is more important to this team right now than Simon. He's played a very steady game all season, I just don't see the point in scratching him right now. There will be injuries, some d-men might struggle......but we're not at that point yet. Sucks for Oliver but if your 6 blueliners are playing well as a unit you don't mess with it until you have to.

Like I said in the last game, the team coming out with a much better effort after their players only meeting was telling for me. That doesn't mean they're going to go on an undefeated stretch from now until end of the year, but I think they'll put together more and more complete efforts with increased frequency. Jets will be motivated after losing yesterday and pissing away a 2-0 lead so the Flames need to be on point to start and take it from there. Not confident in Rittich though.

He isn't an underdog vs Brossoit - it's a fair matchup

Not used to this years schedule yet. I feel like these threads need a "game 2/3" in the header or something. Especially from a different time zone I have to always double check I'm in the right thread :P

I think I remember seeing previous stats that showed Rittich being relatively lights out vs Winnipeg? Or am I making that up?

This is good to see. When was the last time Rittich had the role he has now, where he'll likely play on back to backs only, with a sprinkling of other games to keep him fresh? Would be interesting to see his record as a backup, though back then, he wasn't as refined as he is now. My old memory fails me more and more these days...

I take so much enjoyment over watching Maurice lose his shirt over the dumbest stuff and so with that ....win tonite....win in regulation.
No points for the Jets please. Let's take 2 more and go home.

In 2017–18 Rittich was playing every ten days or so for the first few months before Smith was injured:

They scratched Simon because Dube was back, and they seem to believe Leivo and Nordstrom are better fits on their lines.

I would switch Lucic and Dube though but they looked great in the third.
|
Bennett, Lucic taking a regular shift in the top 6 on an NHL roster would be a complete disgrace.
Go back to the typical combinations (that make sense) and ride with it. Neither of those two guys are capable of keeping up and playing with top 6 talent.

1) Monahan
2) Dube
3) Andersson
4) Gaudreau
5) Valimaki
Edit: To be clear, I’m not predicting whether any of these players will score. This is just my unofficial hair rankings.
