Johnny was great. Like old Johnny.
Monahan was really good too, quite noticeable.
Marky is underpaid. So solid.
Many others had good games, Bennett, Mangi, Valimaki etc. but I have to give a shut out to Tanev. Dude is a rock. When he makes a bad play he fights back and corrects it like no-one I have seen before. This guy is all heart. Best D the Flames have, not even close really.
For the negative? Ward. Why have Ras and Chucky start OT? Poor skates should not be in OT, never mind together.
Why start Johnny and Monahan in the D zone in OT? They lost the face-off and chased until getting off for a change. Such a waste, such a brain cramp by Ward.
Tkachuk has had plenty of success in OT. Monahan/Gaudreau and Tkachuk/Lindholm should be the forward pairs in OT
Since Backlund avoids contact and skates around giving the puck away and generally lethargic (cringed when he was in the ice for OT and the man he was supposed to cover almost scored) he's clearly off Ward's radar, as he should've been benched long before Dube who is out there battling.
I didn’t say Backlund was good. I only commented on Dube. But no, Dube didn’t have his normal hustle.
So I guess the Gaudreaus are indeed aware of everything master weasel has been saying, and it wasn't just me when I thought Johnny looked like he didn't want to answer any Francis questions at the start of this video when he was doing media after Training Camp started:
He was still nice about it, but kept it short, especially compared to his answers to other reporters.
Good win tonight, if Dube hadn't taken those penalties and gotten benched I think he would have been the third shooter in the SO instead of Leivo.

Not outraged by Leivo being tapped on the shoulder, but I was secretly hoping Ward would put Tanev out there... he gets to centre, picks up the puck and immediately flips it towards the net. You never know.

Nah. Shootouts are basically roulette. Why not comment on the amazing smoothie he whipped up in the blender in the 3rd?
I think Leivo is coming around. Has some nice aspects to his game.
All the coach has to do to please some of you is "something" as opposed to nothing. I would rather have a leader on the bench than a buddy. Enough of these peewee bargin bin coaches and the GM as well cause he cant/wont get that done.
