I'd heard he'd been sick for a while.
Really bizarre life as the guy chased controversy through his whole life. I do remember seeing him play a comedy club in Texas and he was very good, and several degrees more dirty then Bob Saget.

Poor guy. He always got the short end of the stick it seems. You will be missed Screech. I feel more of a connection now in my mid 30s to Bayside than I do for the actual HS I went to. Christ, I feel that way about the characters too. Pretty sure I haven't spoken to anyone I went to HS with in 15 years.

Most memorable Screech scene for me was when he dirty sanchezed that one chick in a porno. I believe it turned out it wasn't actually Screech, but it was a loveable scene, anyway.

Man, his controversy over his life seemed self inflicted but as you get older you understand how rejection probably played into his craziness. It’s crazy how quickly he deteriorated with this cancer diagnosis. RIP to him and his loved ones.

Not always. Apparently he was gifted a porn star penis. Was he a major smoker or something as it seems weird to see someone of his age die of lung cancer.

Ah, that's too bad. He was younger than the rest of the cast and got stuck playing the nerd who gets dumped on. It seemed to really affect him and he just couldn't reinvent himself.
It is funny how Macaulay Culkin seemed to get it right; make your money as a kid, then coast as an adult, and don't let much bother you.

He smoked a ton of weed. Not cigarettes though. Apparently cancer runs strong in his family.

Addiction, legal issues and an arrest. I'm not sure if he's the shining example of child stars gone right. But good that he seems to be in a much better spot now.

Article makes it sounds like it started elsewhere is his body and then invaded his lungs. Just awful.

Sad, that's really young. RIP Screech.
