Was Daneyko a 5'9 offensive defenseman who couldn't produce?
Chances are after this stunt the only way Mete see's NHL ice again is as a zamboni driver.

I would do Tkachuk for Stuzle straight across.

I seriously doubt the Flames are going to involve Bennett in any blockbuster trade. I suspect he'll be dealt in a dufus-for-dufus deal and the team moves on.

I probably would too, but the established NHL player has to hold more value than the prospect, even when the prospect is as good as Stutzle.

Not for the Sens they don't - based on where they are in their re-build.
Ottawa isn't trading the guy they have labeled as "the guy" going forward.

The fan960 talk resonates with me this morning. Ward should never have repeatedly said Sam was going to play centre this year
I hate to say it, but once again BT has failed to land a solid coach and it will probably cost us more than the season this time.

It was a dumb promise, especially when repeatedly stating that Lindholm was also being moved to C. Unless a trade involving Monahan or Backlund got nixed last minute, it's the classic overcommit/underdeliver, which probably strained the relationship further.

LOL, why are we talking about a team still in their rebuild, trading out their highest picks. Ottawa isn't trading Tkachuk, stuzle.

Probably the straw the broke the camel's back. This year was probably make or break for him, but now he feels like that took that chance and killed it.
Its unfortunate.

I agree he should have never said it. Also BT should have hired a better coach. But to say it will cost more than the season is a bit of a stretch. Way to much love for a 3rd liner that can’t produce during the regular season because of the way the officiating is called.

The guys on Fan960 are right - Anaheim makes a lot of sense as a destination for Sam Bennett. They really need more young centers and they would have the cap space to extend him.
Rackell also makes a lot of sense for the Flames to acquire. Of course the Flames would have to add, and they would need a bit of cap space.

The one thing I would say is Rackell has been hot garbage for them this season (not exclusively a Rackell trait though). Not sure I’d be into Rackell for Bennett and a 2nd, but definitely an interesting target.

I think the coaching decision is the reason both Benett and the season are at risk already. BT has been great in some areas, but the ward decision in my opinion was surprising and just no good.
Hopefully I'm wrong.

Because they are dealing a 3rd line winger who averages 28 pts a season and is on pace for 8 pts this year?

I'm so sick of this Bennett talk. End of the day this team has rewarded players that play well (Mangiapane, Dube, Rasmus) so I have a real hard time placing all the blame on the Flames.
It's the same thing with people who are mad that Kylington isn't getting more ice time. When we have different coaches seeing the same thing it makes me think that maybe there is something behind the scenes with these players that are pushing the coach to make these decisions.
Ward especially doesn't strike me as someone who is vindictive or who would target players in a negative way.
Bennett wants out and that is fair. I'm hoping he takes the Laine route and plays his way to a better trade versus the PLD way of becoming a distraction and putting in no effort.

The Sam Bennett experience has been disappointing and I am sure the return will also be disappointing. Still, not much to be worried about in a trade situation. He might do better elsewhere, but it wasn't going to happen here. Get what you can. If it is better to hold on to him for the year and let him go for free, so be it. The cost to the Flames is that low.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.
