Hold on to your butts, the run on physical silver really has the chance to create some panic. Most of the larger institutions are net short silver because they do the commodity hedging for all the industrials that use silver. There is a massive paper market that’s net short (remember the large settlement by US banks admitting to manipulating the precious metals markets).
This paper market is going to create pressure on the physical market and will likely result in repricing to incentivize people to sell their physical silver to support the contracts. If you are a industry who uses silver as an input for your business and need physical demand, this is going to start really squeezing the banks net short position.

Which will result in pushing silver stocks up in the short term?

It could have an impact certainly. Most the largest producers of silver are actually gold companies. In squeeze scenarios these are typically temporary market imbalances that will correct themselves. The physical price could sky rocket, but if it’s only for a week or a month that won’t have a major impact on a producer’s bottom line. SLV is a silver etf that tracks the physical price of silver. To take advantage of a squeeze you want to dump at the top before the market rebalances.

Citadel is going to make a tonne of money on SLV. $130 million in stock before they generated this hype!
Crazy week ahead indeed.

At VBCEin metro town this morning the line just to get into the exchange is way out the door. They have already run out of silver and are just taking pre-orders

Ive been following the TD Precious Metals site the last few days, and noticed more things sold out than usual. This afternoon, the site is down, which Ive never seen before.

Silvergoldbull.ca was down a bit this am, back up saying they'll need 10 to 15 days to ship orders.

If the dealers were smart, they’d purposefully take things down and let the prices run up before they come back online.

To me it was weird that BB got caught up in this in the first place, and has had a bad/risky label attached to it ever since, I don't see them as remotely similar to AMC (a company you likely need to fully exit at some point during all this).
I bought in a few months ago with long term hold strategy as they really seem to be turning a huge corner. I mean $33 was probably too high, but I bought at $9something and watched them start to break out to $11, $13, $16 and none of it seemed unnatural or unwarranted.
So this craziness obviously caught me off guard and forced me to rethink everything (I ended up selling a bunch at $33), but ultimately I believe in them long term and will hold the rest and see if it blows up further in the coming weeks.

And if they fall really low due to the labels attached to them and volatility of this redditt stuff I will buy the **** out of them and go back to a long term hold and will be really excited to see their growth in the next two years or so.

Cannot quote but what is the actual underlying physical supply of silver? I trade physical ag commodities and a short squeeze from retailers would not work unless the S+D is already out of whack. There is fund money that play positions but a lot of is hedging. If the underlying futures go up there is a lot of selling pressure from the actual producers and as the commercial buys, they sell futures.
I am not into silver so maybe the underlying is actually bullish and the supply side is weak but this screams pump and dump to me.
It would be like trying short squeeze CORN in an attempt to rally the futures, it will fail if there is no reason to be bullish other than trying to squeeze a fund.
