Seriously if Myers doesn't get suspended and Dube does its a joke
Also, TSN is brutal for favoring the few teams they cover

Agreed.
Those chance numbers are whack.

I didn’t catch all the game but from what I saw I thought that was probably Tkachuks worst game since his rookie season. Just didn’t seem like he had it tonight and it was giveaways galore.
I’m still not sure we’ve really figured out our lines, and don’t think Mangiapane looked good with 13/23.

I do wonder if they should reunite Tkachuk-Backlund-Mangiapane, that was our best line last year and especially under Ward they were great the last 20 games of the season. I don’t think any of the three of them have looked as good separated.

It doesn’t really give us a “first” line but I’d almost try:

Tkachuk - Backlund - Mangiapane: Known chemistry.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Simon: Overall this line has been good together and I don’t get why they keep taking Simon off the line, the stats show he’s clearly been the best fit there so far this season.

Dube - Lindholm - Bennett: Dube and Bennett, and Dube and Lindholm have shown chemistry together separately. I think this line is a good mix of speed, skill, and tenacity.

Play them all pretty equally at 5v5 and you’re kind of rolling 3 second lines.

 Nice snipe, Johnny

And I got a kick out of Backs, it was Gallagher on his knees and Backlund wasn’t easing up on his shot
 |
Did anybody catch backs took what looked like a spear from that little s** Gallagher ? Backs went down, though obviously didn’t affect him too much. Might have been why backlund didn’t ease up on the shot ...

Loved the ATL. Because there's some real solid gold comments that I know for a fact that I have read them in our very own GT threads. The ones specifically aimed at Kulak and Byron. Kulak" best ever one day, worst ever the next" and Paul "should score 50 if he had hands."
Lol lol lol, takes me back.

Yeah, I don’t know who counts these, and what is considered/not considered a scoring chance but all you have to do is watch the game highlights from the flames website, and you will see a hell of a lot more than what I would call 4 scoring chances.

Blaster and Hockey wanted us to notice so badly that they out hockeyed a team not named the senators.
Winnipeg is an easier target right now though sans Laine, Roslovic or the incoming PLD.

Gutsy win by the team. Markstrom is a beast. If he continues his trend of 2/3 wins are shutouts I'll take it! Calm cool and collected in net. Great to hear about how awesome of a teammate he is too. Players love going to battle for guys like that.
Weber is still a beast. Literally every single person in the hockey world proclaimed the Habs the big losers in that trade. Years later and Weber is still a solid #1D, the captain of the team and still possess the most feared shot in the league. Meanwhile Subban is trending down every year and looks like a buyout candidate with each passing season. Nobody makes me cringe more he shoots from the point them him. I wish so bad the Flames had a weapon like that on D.

Flames also lucked out with the Scotiabank logos on their helmets. If it wasn't a corporate logo I'd actually like it as a complimentary graphic on the helmet. Looks sleak AF.

I thought the score flattered both teams. Both sides had a ton of missed open nets and shots from the slot that missed. Could have easily been a 10 goal game if it wasn't for the goaltenders. Both goalies made a bunch of beauty saves for their teams.

We'll see if the team that showed up after the closed door meeting is the team we see going forward or if they continue their Jekyll/Hyde performance. Could very well revert back but for now I'll enjoy the gutsy win!

Looks like my birthday wish magic paid off! You're welcome.
I'm not going to get into any of the discussion points this thread has put forward, they've been talked about enough already.

However, can we talk yet again about how scary Weber's shot is? Here's the damage recap from just this game:

-Almost shattered Valimaki's forearm THROUGH the padding
-Almost injured Anderson's knee THROUGH the padding
-Hit a crossbar so hard he moved the entire net and left a dent
 -Shattered a player's stick
-Shattered the skate blade of Nordstrom

Seriously, it should be listed as a lethal weapon. I honestly worry he's going to kill someone one day with that shot.

I’ve been wondering for most of his career if I could even bring myself to blast it through bodies every night like he does. His shot is insane.

Yeah...this has always been my issue with that stuff.

Who decides what a high danger chance is? Does that not vary with who the personnel are in each situation? Who the shooter is vs who the goaltender is? How hard the shot was. Was it off a rebound? Etc...

So many variables and circumstances in a very fluid game cannot be boiled down to simple, static, black and white analysis.

Agreed. It brings to mind the shot counter in Los Angeles. Every game the Flames play there results in a shot advantage to the home team.
