Default Motorcycle footwear

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for footwear when riding a touring bike? Anything that you riders out there would recommend/not recommend?

Do you like your toes? Wear leather boots.

Last summer Mrs. MG and I were riding down to Canmore and some guy on a sports bike zoomed by us. His GF was wearing almost nothing.

Made me go ------>

If it's hot and you want to go lighter, go ahead and try sneakers, but generally wear leather boots. One day you may thank me.

BTW, I ride a Gold Wing and a Honda Shadow.

You can spend money on purpose made boots but I just wear cowboy boots or wellington style boot. Some also wear work boots or hiking boots but I like something not to bulky so I can change gears easily. Wouldn't think of not wearing leather boots, try and find something that's water resistant and give them regular treatments with mink oil.

Even as a Harley rider, I dont recommend the Harley footwear, comes apart too easy.

I'm partial to a high boot, steel toe, with a buckle on the bony part of the ankle.....your feet are hanging out there, and the first thing that is going to hit the ground if you get in trouble...dont cheap out on the boots

I've made a few trips to California on my bike, used to wear black surplus army boots. Lately I just stick with my runners. I went through Holland, Germany, Switzerland, France and Italy with Vans skate shoes.

Don't buy into the marketing and spend tons of money, or else you'll look like those tools on the sport bikes with an entire matching color coded getup.

We picked up some nice leather boots at Stallion's on MacLeod Trail. The boots were a good price and are great for riding. They zip up at the back and have a good heel and grip and are easy to put on and off. They have a have a good selection of leathers there, too, and their prices are pretty reasonable.
