I don't know if you remember the 88-89 season, but I do, and if you don't there's a great thread on this site recapping it game by game.

That team won some periods, lost some periods. Won a lot of games by being the better team for the majority of the game. Where did this obsession with being dominant for 60 minutes straight come from?

If that’s your bar you'll almost never be satisfied.

I sure enjoyed that game tonight.

That just doesn't sound like a fun mentality to have as a fan.
Im happy they won not every game is enjoyable, they blocked shots and played great 2006 hockey. Just don't enjoy games where the D plays hard and the O has no finish. Montreal played good in the 2nd other then that they were boring to watch as well. Hope the next game is better

Jeeze the team comes off three tough losses when they deserved points in two of them and have to play the hottest team in the division again on the road, shut them out and still not good enough in the view of many.

Tough crowd.

It’s not about dominating, it’s about effort. There’s a difference.

I’m not sure I would use the word passenger for any of the Flames tonight. Some guys need to be better. But that effort level combined with elite goaltending will get the win more often than not.

Was it perfect? no, too many turnovers by the forwards and missing the net but its game 7 of a season without regular training camp or exhibition games.

You don't need to apologize for having a good goalie
Agreed, it was a great road game against a good team. People get that Montréal is a good team right?

Exactly, I normally avoid going into a PGT that the Flames lost, too much negativity. I came in a winning PGT threat, STILL too much negativity.

Just a grind it out game. Thanks to Markstrom as that game could’ve easily swung the othet way. Although Allen was quite good himself. Flames have to be much better if they really want to compete in this division as I thought the Flames were the clear #2 in this matchup.

Just win though at this point as long losing streaks hurts you bad in a shortened season.

This is nuts. So much floating in the second. Do you guys watch the game? Watch their legs, compete level etc. Digging. Forecheck. That second was brutal. They do it sometimes other times don’t. It’s about them it’s not about dominating or even really the scoreboard it’s about their GAS level which comes and goes. That’s all I am commenting on. Watch their feet. Second period was float central.

On a side note. How good would Gallagher look in a flaming C. One of those players I dream of having.

Remember the analysis that said Markstrom would be best matched with Calgary's defense?

I think we're seeing that.

We gave up a high volume, but I think the way we defend in front allow Markstrom to take care of his job with the type of opportunities he's faced with.

Flukes and pinballs comprising the majority of chances that have beat Jacob is no coincidence.

Laine and wide open tap-in rushes are all that have beat him clean.

Sometimes you win when you deserve to lose and sometimes you lose when you deserve to win. That's hockey. A win is still a win at the end of the day.
