If the team comes out flat again BT has to shake up the team one way or another. There is no reason the team should not be fired up all game now. Hopefully Dube is ready to roll as well, GFG!

From the NBCSN link.

"A pair of goals in the final two minutes after it was already 4-0 made the final result semi-respectable, but is a prime example of putting lipstick on a pig." Ouch

I thought they came out fine against Toronto in the first game - they just didn’t have success. Against Montreal I thought they were OK in the first period.

Hadn't been in the hockey side of the forum for a few days. My good the panic level is way too high here. The Toronto games were coin flips in the Flames direction that didn't break their way against what was billed to be the best team in the division. The Montreal game was a stinker.

No team in the league is reflected by any 7 game segment. Full stop. There's ups and downs. Montreal is hot right now. Fine. That's also not indicative of what that team is, sorry. There's nothing so far that I've seen that makes me believe the flames aren't still in contention for a serious playoff drive.

The 4th line needs to be better. Valimaki needs some more consistency. Lucic isn't an nhler anymore. These are fringe issues, not core issues.

For the rest, I've liked what I've seen a lot.

Time to bring back the old Darryl Sutter breaking down the season into a bunch of best of seven series. More relevant this year than any in recent memory. Win the final seven best of 7 series and the Flames likely make the playoffs. Get a win tonight to "tie" the first best of seven series.

In Montreal, zebra friendly environment for the Habs, HNIC, Flames coming off another ####ty effort, and needing a win in the worst way? 6-2 Montreal.

The Calgary Flames have all the talent and tools to be the best of the North division.
It is up to Ward to supply the tool box and put the right tools on the right jobs.

GO Flames GO

I don't like Ward at all and completely believe it was another dumb move made by a very mediocre GM.

How about we put the pressure on the players who continue to disappoint. As well as the GM who is the architect of this team and continues to make bad coaching decisions.

The way some posters bring up coaches make me think they should be paid a lot more money. There is only so much a coach can do - he can't physically put on skates and start playing himself when the team decides to not show up. Many nights, the players don't even look like they care.. there isn't much any coach can do there to entice pro athletes to try harder.

Man I wish I still had your level of optimism for this franchise. There’s nothing you’ve seen so far to indicate the Flames aren’t in contention? Not even the last 7 years with the same core?

This team isn’t being judged by the last 7 games; they’re being judged by the last 7 years. Full stop.

I pray you are right however. I really do. This franchise has just beaten the optimism right out of me.
