I think the majority of people would agree that this is a fallacy, but you wouldn't know it if you read the threads about the game.
The ATL report was a lot more fun for me when it didn't look so familiar!
That's pretty typical of most fan forums. I'm pretty consistent in that I'm sitting back waiting for them to prove it as I'm not surprised in the least they got swept by the Leafs as the team just never plays well after an extended break. There's trends with this team (and organization in general) that just never change and that's more frustrating to me than the highs and lows that come with wins and losses.

I get it, I don't get as surly about the Flames anymore or hockey, Its definitely slid in importance for me, maybe because of my heavier invlovement in Football. Maybe because I can't get past that hockey just seems fairly passionless now.

I also get that people are going to be surly on the Post game threads. I mean we've been locked down since basically march or April of last year, a lot of people have had major losses, whether its jobs or whatever. On top of it, a lot of people were looking forward to hockey as an outlet, so when things don't go great in games, people are probably going to lash out at the team and each other. short tempers are ruling the day.

Sure it makes reading the post game threads unpleasant at times, but at least fans are passionate, I guess the only thing I can say is if you feel the need to rip someone on your post, step back and think about what's going to happen and the tornado of rage that it can start. This is a hockey board not the UN.

Agreed. Adjustments - it's never static and you have to make some adjustments but the fundamentals or concepts must be the same: check to score, pucks on net.

You simplify to get momentum and confidence and then those passes connect tape to tape.

They’ve been pretty good but they’re still the third pairing.
Tanev is our #1Dman.

I think we should swap the bottom pairs. Unpopular but i think Rasmus and Vali will gel and I think Gio could use more limited minutes.

I would be fine seeing that. Gio hasn't looked good since before the bubble. He was awful then, and doesn't look to be rebounding.

If this were an 82 game season where the Flames saw a bunch of bottom feeders over the season you could give your vets more time. Thats not a luxury they have this year.

The only thing that should happen is Tre heads to the dressing room and reads his team the riot act. I admit I am old school but you cannot allow that to happen to your supposed best player. Point blank guys like Lucic, Rinaldo and anyone else need to respond next game.

Respond directly to the guy who did it, Muzzin (?) and stick up for Tkachuk. I am so pissed at Sportsnet for pushing these retaliation crap scenario's every time that something happens in a game.

Move Lindholm back, he does nothing at center. Monahan has to take every draw because he is the only one with a chance of winning one.

Not a bad thought — I would have hoped this would have happened as a game 20 promotion for Valimaki versus a game 6 demotion for Gio.

I also note that Gio was returned to PP1 (and it immediately helped lead to the 3-3 goal); I’m not sure if that was just to shake things up as I thought Rasmus was fine on PP1.

Honestly would not be surprised at all to see Ward go back to the tried and true lines of
Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Tkachuk-Backlund-Managiapane

Then add in the playoff line of
Lucic-Bennett-Dube

4L? Simon-Ryan-Leivo? Honestly no idea. This is why they should seriously consider bringing up young players to make this a legit energy line.

Gio is hard to read right now as we know he's on the decline but he always starts seasons slow usually looking mediocre/terrible until mid/late November. Chances are he's going to look better in a month but he's probably not ever going to be the guy we got used to.

Gawdin-Ryan-Leivo might be interesting. Would be a huge switch for d from our other completely Lhs lines too lol.

And in a month the season will be half over.

You aren't wrong, but time is not something a lot of players have right now.

Does anyone know the timeline on Dube at this point? Have their been any updates?

Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindy
Tkachuk-Backlund-Mangiapane
Dube-Bennett-Leivo
Gawdin-Ryan-Lucic

Hanifin-Tanev
Valimaki-Andersson
Gio-Nesterov

I think I would like to see this.

Flames stated he is day to day. No idea if that means he will play the next game or so.

5 games

let's at least play all 6 teams in our division before we re-rank our players

CP is bi-polar because the Flames themselves are bi-polar.

Seriously, NHL all stars one day or period and utter almost-No-Good-level trash the next.

The inconsistency is utterly annoying. And it's been going on for how long now??

The Flames will bounce back, they always do. They're a good regular season team. The playoffs is another thing.

I said it in the Game Thread but I think it's worth repeating. Colorado started the season 3-3 with losses to Anaheim and LA.

I hope the Flames find consistency in their game but I still feel it is way to early to get super upset with this version of the team. They have played less games than anyone in the Division right now. In a normal non Covid year we would be in preseason still.

I will save my meltdown for game 10 and up. Hahaha.

Flames flat after a break, not new. I'm not going to worry after 2 games
