I think he was struggling from it even earlier in the game. It just seemed to get worse as the game went on.
I can't believe that they didn't pull him, or that he didn't volunteer to be pulled. I know he was having a good game and wanted to get the win, but it was a selfish decision.
I can't say if continuing to play exasperated the injury, but I wouldn't be surprised.

I really hope you guys and the leaf fans are joking when you say Chucky falling on Campbell is what hurt him. He clearly hurt himself on a routine save a minute or two before Chucky fell on him. I know I’m going to get blasted for this but that was an extremely dirty and Ruutu-type of play by Chucky. I thought he got tripped at first but he fully did it all himself. Also he is my favourite flame, just to be clear.

It certainly didn't help
This is what Leaf fans should be crying about today - why the hell did the coach leave Campbell in when he was in obvious pain for the last 10 minutes of the game? And now he is out 'weeks'.
Fans have a right to be pissed about that. But no... Tkachuk!!

So nobody currently in the Canadian division has beaten Markstrom cleanly?
Edit: oh no, I remember Scheifele banging in a rebound in that first game of the season

So much Leaf fans whining on twitter over a play that was clearly the responsibility of the Leafs coaching staff. I hope Lucic makes Simmons his biotch tonight if he tries anything.

Monahan blocked the first shot, and you have to give credit to Laine for corralling the puck and shooting again about as fast as humanly possible. That was all Laine.

Please tether Looch and his stick to the walls, so he can't give up the puck in the middle of the ice.

Just saying it wasn't a clean shot... Markstrom was set for the first attempt

Yes, and then Laine got another shot off that actually went into the net. It was a weird sequence, but I don't think there is any question that it wasn't "clean." Laine shot the puck and hit his target.

100%. Goalies respond to the shooter’s overall movement
I was hoping to say that no player currently in the Canadian division had beaten him cleanly, but we will have to settle for the thing we can all agree on, that he hasn’t been beaten cleanly except for in game 1

Right, but that should have no effect on whether or not a shot is clean. I don't look at this any differently than when a goalie is beaten by a quick shot on a great cross-seam pass, or on a rebound. Laine took a shot that Markstrom was not set for—but the fact it was also a shot that no goalie would be set for does not somehow render it not "clean."

Misread that on my part, thought he meant teams in the Canadian division.
It's still impressive (and kind of sad) that Flames scored more on Markstrom than all the other teams so far combined (I think).

Sure. He had clear line of sight and the puck didn’t hit anything after it came off the stick, if that’s how you define clean
Again, for me it was just trying to see if I could make a fun point about whether Markstrom had been beaten cleanly by a player in the Canadian division (so any Laine shots are irrelevant to that evaluation)
It does certainly fit in to the category of shots where you can understand that the goalie was disadvantaged in his ability to save it due to the circumstances of the shot
I think we can all agree that Markstrom hasn’t let in any goals that he ‘really should have had’
