Even the Leafs players are trying to calm down the media and saying they got a few lucky bounces...but hey
They had to travel! OMG

I don't think I'm being dramatic when I say this... having Lucic and Nordstrom on the 4th line together will single-handedly cost the Flames at least a couple wins this season, if not more.
It's honestly impressive how badly the Flames get caved in when they're on the ice but how dominant they are when its any of the other 3 lines on.
Hopefully Dube is back sooner rather than later, and hopefully this is a repeat of last year for Lucic, where he started the season off horrible but became an actual effective player in the final half. Just hope we don't have to wait 30+ games for him to rebound again.

They kept the Flag Jersey's as a tribute to Ken King IIRC. I dont mind them for the limited usage they have this year.

Wasn't able to watch with that ridiculous start time, but not shocked to hear an early game after a long break was sloppy

While he will always be overpaid at least he was a serviceable bottom 6 player last year. This year he looks done. It’s like watching Jagr in a flames uniform all over again.

Laine's first goal was just a brilliant shot.
Connor's goal was a nice one-timer.
Outside of that? No clean looks have beat him in 4 games.

Backlund with some very lazy giveaways this game, including at the end when the Flames should be pushing forward...to that end, would've liked to see more urgency the last 90 seconds when the opposing goalie didn't have enough strength in his leg to get himself up.
Flames played well but they need more then the powerplay going offensively.
And for the second game in a row, Ward pushed Tkachuk with JG and SM to get a spark, it seems to work but that can't be sustained, there needs to be some other scoring.

The Toronto Maple Leafs can eat 18 bags of leaves.
I hate them.
That is all.

Agreed. Mangiapane seems to have good chemistry with Backlund.

I get the comments about the bad bounces - some terrible puck luck around our own net, but I hope the team isn't chalking the loss up to bad bounces. Too many turnovers and bad passes. Way too much perimeter play. Just a bit too casual overall. The 4th line especially needs to play better.

Outside of the 4th line they are playing sound defensively and getting chances.
In 39 minutes at even strength tonight, when none of Lucic, Nordstrom, or Ryan were on the ice the Flames were:
61% Corsi For (42-27)
57% High Danger For (12-9)
60% Expected Goals (2.5 - 1.6)
They were unlucky though as two bad bounces happened and it ends up being 1 GF - 2 GA for those lines at even strength.
The bottom 3 (namely Lucic and Nordstrom) is bad though corsi was 40%, and High Danger chances were 0 for and 3 against. Biggest issue is momentum just turns every time they are on the ice too.

I thought Flames were just not in game shape today. Passes were off more often than normal, and just a few too many unforced turnovers that you don't really see from this team.
Also, it is like the Flames are spoiled or something. Are they really trying to make up for having a good goalie this season by knocking a few pucks into their own net every game? How many actual shots beat Markstrom this year? Laine's snipe? That bodes well for the season. Markstrom should be leading the league if not for almost every goal bouncing off a Calgary Flame.

His faceoffs were atrocious as well.
Losing offensive zone faceoffs (between Backlund and Lindholm) probably cost the team a few scoring chances.

Don't think either team ran away with that one, so th result was a bit of a toss up.
I think that game Favoured the leafs having had so much more game action. I think the Flames are the better team, and will show that over the season.
I also still think Ward makes rookie mistakes around player usage, which is especially noticeable with Lucic.
