Burke says (again) that the Flames had PLD slotted right where he was picked but this time he is clearer that this was indeed in front of Tkachuk.

I'd argue that each of these North Division teams has demonstrated some degree of entertaining hockey so far this season (no particular order):

Canadiens
Flames
Canucks
Sens
Jets

...While the following teams have been about as much fun to watch as having your wisdom teeth extracted through your left nostril:

Oilers
Leafs

I was all in on Stone and Hall, but the cost to acquire PLD never appealed to me. I’ve always thought that the team needed to add onto what they already have rather than make a lateral Monahan for Dubois trade. I also think Dubois’ been highly overrated recently.
This trade just worked out perfectly as both teams had similar valued and aged players request trades. Calgary couldn’t have reasonably matched it, and rightfully so.

Interesting. Tre tried to trade up to Columbus spot in that draft. I always thought it was to get puljarvi. I guess it was to get PLD.

I’m the opposite. I think you go all in for a 1st line center not a winger.

			Blockbuster hockey trades are exciting!
Short term this looks like a big win for the BJs who gained their first legitimate goal scoring star since Rick Nash and only had to give up a guy who wanted out and a 3rd. Also, as a Flames fan, seeing Laine gone from the division after his wrist shot single-handedly beat Calgary in game 1 is a great feeling.

Longer term though this could work out for the Jets considering PLD has an extra year on his contract and plays a more important position. If the Jets can re-sign him they are set at centre for years to come

I guess the disconnect for me is that I don’t view PLD as a significant upgrade on either Monahan or Lindholm, whereas those wingers would have been massive upgrades.

I agree that centre is the more important position, I just don’t believe PLD is that true #1 that people so badly want. To me it’s a lateral move at worst and at best a marginal upgrade. I didn’t think the asking price was worth is for the Flames.

We say this so much because we see so many americans just on holiday briefly but then the majority of the city has to deal with them on a daily in our jobs . So we say we love them to get the money but our tight circles we don't like them. This post is so disingenuous. Typical Victorian in a public place diarrhea mouth.

My wife and I have each worked in the tourism industry here at one point or another. Americans are nove but they are passive aggressive as all hell. She currently is a manager at a top 3 hotel here and they get pissed at no air conditioning at this time of year ! Its 2c here who the #### needs air conditioning? Even in spring when it's only 12c here they bitch that theres no air conditioning!

Also want to point out no the average person is not amazing in the states having been their many times and having to deal with a great (too) many Americans here
Just under 50 % of people voted for trump. Typical hippie victorian.. just trying to play peacekeeper response. Same mental reasoning we are the van east side in a full city form

I was basing my opinion on the 6 or 7 times a year (in a normal year) I go to the States. I have traveled extensively through the states and really enjoy my time down there. It is just my opinion based on my experiences though. I don't ever go dt victoria as Im old (I live in Saanich)

And to call me a hippie is really funny. You have no idea who I am, but it seems like you hate where u live and should probably move.

I think tourists suck in everybody's city, especially if you work in hospitality.

There’s a way to remove it from your recommended videos algorithm so that doesn’t happen.

Unfortunately I cannot help you with the brain damage watching it may cause.
