Was roslovic ever going to be in the Jets lineup? Sounded like he would never sign with them again. For me having great center depth for playoffs is more important .

So, who asks for a trade first. Laine or Dubois? They both get traded from one undesirable location to another.

How about playing them 3 times without any of those guys!?

Dubois. If he thought Columbus wasn't nice/a big enough market enough...

They are different players. A lot of talk about Gaudreau’s training and fitness with little evidence to support it. IMO

It's almost Chucky + Bennett.

We shall see if they get there. Although with how awful both Edmonton and Vancouver have looked in the early going, it seems like more of a good bet that the Jets will make the playoffs.

Like....how do you have one iota of an idea what either guy does on their own time, when they aren't even in the same country with you?

If that’s what it would have taken I would have pulled the trigger. As of now we are going to be losing a forward in the expansion draft. Guess we will never know what was offered.

Agreed...I think Laine is closer to Ovy than a guy that's going to fade. It's just whether or not you can convince him to play Defense in order to win cups...or you just let him snipe.

I have a slight overpay by Winnipeg in this one.

We now get to play Winnipeg 3 times before PLD will be in their lineup and obviously they won’t have Laine either which is nice. Gotta take advantage.

Also I find it a bit funny that PLD didn’t like Columbus and gets sent to Winnipeg of all places

John Matisz @MatiszJohn
Roslovic's deal with CBJ is 2 years, $3.8 million ($1.9 million AAV)

Like because if you actually read once in awhile you will hear both players talk about their offseason regime. One rollerblades and goes to the gym, the other plays video games. This is not exactly secret stuff here, Laine didn't even bother to skate during the break before the play in series. Are you seriously the only one who doesn't know this?

14 day mandatory quarantine for Dubois to come into Canada, so he won't be available to the Jets until they play in Calgary on February 9.

They play Ottawa today then 2 against the Oilers, one against the Canucks, and finally 3 against the Flames -- all at home -- before then.

If they were smart, neither. They pretty much used up that card until they are UFA imo. Anymore stunts like this will only be bad for their future UFA negotiations imo. Really, they have 3 more years to endure. Why screw yourself over now?

Yeah I don’t think this is great from Winnipeg.

Packaging Laine and Roslovic and only getting a 3rd on top of Dubois seems like bad business to me.

Elite Goal scorers are still the hardest thing in the NHL to find and as flawed as Laine’s game may be in other areas he still elite at that.

Over the last three seasons:

Laine: 102 Goals, 183 points
Dubois: 65 Goals, 158 points

Dubois is the better play driver and is the better 200ft player (although neither are good defensively) but Laine is the by far the better finisher.

I’m a big advanced stats fan but it’s undervaluing the guy that can create a goal of of nothing in this scenario.

In the end though it’s smart for both teams because this is the best chance of getting an impact player back for their disgruntled stars.

What’s the supposed evidence on Laine?
Seems like it is the same type of anecdotal stuff we hear about Johnny
For the record my view is that both could do more to commit to being their best

Well PLD's agent says PLD is happy to join the Jets FWIW

Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
From Pierre-Luc Dubois' agent Pat Brisson:

``Pierre-Luc is excited and looking forward to join the Jets. This could been a longer process. Happy it's done. Looking positively ahead.''
