Really curious to see the dynamics of the Torts/Laine relationship.

I think Torts could be good for Laine.

@frank_seravalli

Believe #nhljets are retaining 26% of Patrik Laine’s salary for this season, which evens out cap hits between Laine and Dubois. So no added salary for #CBJ other than new Roslovic deal.

Of course, Dubois has next year on his contract. Laine does not.

All right Mony, it’s time to prove me wrong and show that you can be a playoff performer.

I'm really glad we didn't outbid that.

I think Winnipeg loses this deal big time. Hope I’m wrong. If PLD has a Mangiapane/Chucky mentality then Winnipeg is ok. Guess we’ll find out pretty quick.

Why do you continue to act like the Flames never make trades?

They do.

What they cant do is make EVERY trade EVERY time.

Such a strange position you have.

Flames play the Jets thrice before PLD joins them. Sounds good to me.

Lol wut?

If you’re triggered by trade rumours, maybe it’s time to log off for a while.

I couldn’t give a damn about Rozlovic, but Winnipeg should’ve received a bit more considering they’re risking more for giving up a star. The fair price coming back would’ve been Columbus’ first but given their rebuilding maybe a second instead. Or even the possibility of pick swaps. Just seems like Winnipeg is taking on risk while getting no kickback in return.

You are an idiot. It was a joke ... to figure out who else will be available next and takeover the Rumours thread. Screw off.

I think this is a huge win for CBJ. As far as the Flames go, sometimes the best trades are the ones you don’t make. I think it would have cost Calgary Monahan, Valamaki and one of Zary or Pelletier. In 4 years we will look back and be glad Tre didn’t make that deal.

This is a great day, our division gets weaker. Look what Laine did to us in game 1.

A better question would be who the next player is that the Flames don't massively overpay for.

What would our equivalent to Laine-Roslovic be?
Monahan + Valimaki?

Is whiny Laine really going to like playing for Torts more than Maurice? Also, wasn't one of his complaints that he wanted to play with the top line center on the team? Who will he be playing with in Columbus?

On the flip side, is Winnipeg the "big market" that PLD was looking for?

It seems like they all traded problems for problems. Pretty funny when you think about it. The trade "demands" were technically met.

The retention isn't the end of the world given that Laine's up after the season. Dubois has the extra year.

Considering the position they were in the Jackets did quite well. Dubois has so far had one good playoff appearance for all of 10 games. I'm not saying he isn't a good player, but there's no guarantee he's a first line center. When Ryan Johansen was traded, he was at about the same point in his career and had shown more, having scored 33 goals one year and 71 points the next, neither of which Dubois has ever approached. And Johansen hasn't exactly panned out.

Agree maybe like CLB 1st and Jets send a 3rd as well so like get a pick upgraded kinda thing.

Torts honest discussions with Patrik about his video game addictions should be interesting haha

Winnipeg was able to make the deal because they had two malcontents that wanted nothing to do with playing there. They had two assets to move that made it hard for anyone else to compete with. That's one thing the Flames have working for them, the players that are here WANT to be here. No malcontents in the dressing room. Goes a long way to building a team and a culture that will work for each other. Not disappointed we missed on PLD just from that standpoint.

I like this deal for the Jets. I think Laine is a guy that will fade fast because he doesn't take his fitness seriously. I think PLD will be an excellent 2 way C that gives them a nice 1-2 punch down the middle while Columbus has taken an area of weakness at centre ice and magnified it.
