Yup
2020 was a really deep draft.
2021 is supposedly really weak.
I'd probably move that pick before either of Pelletier or Zary.

I agree with this.
Johnny + a 1st is also a little hard to swallow. Man, I'm like all over the place. To be honest, if Hanifin + Bennett +1st doesn't do it, then I'm out on the trade.

Those reluctant to make a deal because the team got off to a hot start should probably reevaluate their position. What were the major changes this offseason? Hamonic and Brodie out, Markstrom and Tanev in. Great, it's worked out. But the problem last year was still with the forwards not scoring. That has largely remained intact and the playoffs exposed that. Not exploring bringing in this guy because of a few games in is a terrible move, no matter if they go 5-0. They could still use his talent. Who goes the other way should be debated but not doing anything is a non-starter.

So we want another sulky mcsulklerson on this team ala James Neal....no longer the real deal.?
Nope ....hard pass. I like the makeup of this team and I want a cup.
No drama kings, pity partiers....F that. How many times have we seen this here.? Guys that were sure things like Neal , Brower, Chervenka(sp) Drury ....and draft picks that wouldn't come here.
Id sooner go after Brady Tkachuk. Someone i know we wouldn't be wringing our hands over and worrying about the what ifs and what nots.

Add my name to those that suspect that Tortorella should be getting a larger chunk of the blame for the PLD situation.
Do you really think it more likely that PLD is a selfish quitter who doesn't care for his team and teammates or that he is someone trying to stand up to abuse? He's in turmoil right now and his on-ice play will undoubtedly suffer. Tortorella is a bully who has been publically attacking his own player.
This is just my guess (and I can only guess) but I would put money down that there has been three years of bullying and that's why he wants out. So Tortorella's ego is doubling down to deal with the rejection.

PLD is good but a lot of underrating Monahan is going on in here...

Johnny is now less than two years away from free agency v PLD being under control much longer
Also centre v winger

I thought it was odd that his teammates we're not passing to him. It is hard to tell because in the video you can't see the whole play going on the ice. I would like to see where his team mates are at the end of that shift. Either way it's not a good situation for him The sooner he gets out of there the better.

2 more years. You begin your post saying 2 years is not much time but then say 2 additional years is much longer.
Gaudreau is the better player so if we take the contracts into consideration the difference is certainly not Zary and a 1st

One thing that I think is being overstated is PLD’s team control.
He really only has 4 years of team control left (3 after this season). He has 2 years in his current deal (including this season), and then has 2 more years of RFA eligibility before it would be a UFA the following year.
It’s still better but it’s only 2 more years of team control than Johnny, and 1 more year of team control than Monahan.
Not that I disagree that there would need to be add-ons but based on Dubois contract status it’s not buying you that much extra team control.

Brady Tkachuk is an RFA next summer. If the Sens let him get to that point, it would cost $8.7/year and a first, second, third.
Thoughts?

Sounds like he has played his last game as a BJ
Aaron Portzline @Aportzline
Told #CBJ Pierre-Luc Dubois will be a healthy scratch vs. #TBLightning on Saturday … if he’s still on the Blue Jackets’ roster.
Sense is GM Jarmo Kekalainen was taking a patient approach to trading Dubois, but Thursday made a trade more urgent.
