So how long does Biden get a free pass to not be criticized for anything because “at least he’s not trump”? Asking for a friend.
The criticism that he hasn't already fix the Trump mess already started in the thread. I'm sure the media will start criticizing day one because that is what they do... I'm sure Keystone permit cancellation will get a lot of praise and critisim on both sides of the pipeline arguments. Those that want it to go forward, and those that want line 5 canceled as well.
Looking forward to the new Press Secretary's first briefing. Spicer's post-inaugural "biggest crowds ever" briefing four years ago was totally batshat and set the tone for the whole lie-filled presidency. It'll be awesome to have - what I expect to be - more honourable/ethical people running the show again.

-1 days? Chuck Todd yesterday said if they don't get 100 million vaccines out in 100 days he's a failure. So there you go, MSNBC preemptively turning on him.

I’m excited for the hand wringing that Biden is a 2nd Reagan term dementia having puppet and holding the spot for Kamala to be installed as president. There’s room to get in on the ground floor here I think. Or are we all expected to stop political hot takes in their tracks now because the visibly worst human to hold office and not maintain the veneer of civility is gone?

CBS this morning categorically denied that the media will be in Trump withdrawal and said all journalists and political pundits want the country to heal. I was laughing so hard I almost spit out my coffee. It was a Donald Trump level lie.
They need ratings. Trump was their crack/cocaine. Having Biden in office is like going straight from a $200 a day crack habit to drinking decaf coffee.
They're going to be so desperate to ramp up the drama.

Biden needs to do what America needs and make his dogs President and Vice President. Seriously, imaging how that would bring America together. The #DogMom/#2A/#JesusIsLord crowd, and the animal lovers on the left, and those centrists who also love dogs....it would unite the country in record time.

Never thought I'd be this excited to see a new U.S. President sworn in. I know Biden wasn't everybody's preferred choice, but goddamn, it's gonna be nice having mature compassionate adults in the White House again who actually respect the office.

As soon as he's sworn in?
I'll fire a pre-emptive shot across his bow. His position on the student debt crisis is appalling. Trump gave $1.6 TRILLION in tax breaks and incentives to about 1.2 million people in the top 1%, and then allowed them to get millions in loans with the COVID relief, then told them they didn't have to pay them back. But Biden won't sack the #### up and cancel $1.5 trillion in student debt affecting 44-48 million Americans struggling to get by and have an actual life. Get some spine Joe, you doddering old ####. Kick start the economy by forgiving those oppressive loans and let those people start buying the homes, cars, and other big ticket items those predatory loans have prevented.

I wonder if this is what Klobuchar got in trade for her endorsement... part of it, anyway.

Student loan debt relief needs to come with fixing the cost of college education. Just forgiving debt creates moral Hazard. Trumps bad policy does not justify further bad policy. Actually fix the problems.
I agree that there is a strong economic argument that the US student load crisis creates a drag on the economy but the solution needs to go further then just debt forgiveness. Post Secondary education is broken.
In general an attack on predatory lending whether pay day or community college should be attacked as well.

More questions! (I should start all my posts this way)
Would you cancel all student debt? Including graduate school? I would support some sort of relieving crippling undergraduate (Bachelor degree) debt. But past that? I'm not sure. And if you cancel debt now, what happens going forward? Say I'm 17 and going to college September 2021.

I know a lot of people more knowledge about US law than me have said this before, but it seems dumb to me.
We as a society have a principal of not coercing testimony, unless we write you a nice little get out of jail free note.
This is why you have to accept a Pardon.
If you want to be able to plead the 5th don’t accept the Pardon. It’s the basis of the Supreme Court case which people use as the evidence for saying acceptance of the Pardon is an admission of guilt.
It’s about the only condition that has been placed on thr Pardon Power by the Supreme Court.

My personal reflection is that now is the time to make bold moves like forgiving the debt and then figuring out the path forward after that. But, how much would it suck if you worked so hard and just paid off your enormous student loans in December 2020 just to see the rest of them cleared the following month...
This is an okay speech. Nothing surprising, but more or less what he needed to say. He's definitely losing his grip on the reins, though, stumbling more as time goes on. Hopefully this is just about done.
