If this is the Flames getting into their steam roll early, im all for it. Markstrom and the D corps should be enough to give the scoring fws some confidence. Nice win Flames!

Ok I know I’ve been harping on it but there is just SO MUCH to love about Gio’s goal. Submitted for your approval:
1. Edler backs off knowing he is going to get pulverized through the boards by Looch.
2. Hamonic’s blind pass right out to Gio like a gift on Christmas morning, and the priceless look on his face after.
3. Looch hiding down behind the net cuz he knows the bomb is coming.
4. The Canuck player skating toward Gio doesn’t even turn his head, he knows it’s in the net.

I wouldn’t say it’s irrelevant. Points or GBL give you an idea of what you need to do even when games played are uneven. 5 points back with 3 games in hand is understandable. So is 2.5 games behind leader when games end in wins or losses.
This early in the season, I see what you mean. But standings aren’t that meaningful after three games no matter how you measure it.

That was an especially brutal blind pass by Hamonic. He wasn’t the guy getting creamed by Lucic and there was no need for him to get rid of the puck like that. Just horrible.

I want to imagine Gio called for the puck and Hamonic sent it out of habit.

When he started, they had just drafted 1st overall, so they were pretty bad.
But still true.

I can't believe Canucks fans are complaining about diving.
Just mind bottling

Always wondered this. Is the saying bottling or boggling?

This Oilers quote was my favourite:
“ Imagine a year where we suck worse than we have in a long long time... and every loss is against another Canadian team.
What a nightmare”

Actually he did have blood. Just not enough blood for a 5. By the rules blood is blood. We all know refs call it subjectively tho. He would have had to have a steady faucet going before a NHL ref calls a 5.

I just heard this on the radio (Fan960 call-in show), and it's an interesting stat:
The Flames have scored 3 or more goals in 18 consecutive regular season games starting with 6-2 win at Vancouver on Feburary 8.
We obviously can't keep up this streak the whole season, but this definitely makes it easier for our bona-fide #1 goaltender and we should have enough offense to rack up many more wins.
