For me, the key is this.
We know Valimaki is going to be a stud. Give him time to get up to NHL speed. The jump from Liiga and a full year off requires some time to adjust.
Nesterov makes the same high risk plays as Kylington, but he has the physical frame to battle and make up for it. On that Nesterov giveaway at the blueline, he skated back and battled physically with the Canuck to neutralize the attack. If that's Kylington, they likely get a quality scoring chance.
Here's the thing, if Kylington can make up for his lack of size and defensive acumen with some quality offensive attack, it can be forgiven. Until he pushes his offensive talents more, he's going to be riding pine.
