I just watched the first episode of Yellowstone. Seems okay but pretty cheesy.

Billy Butcher has risen close to the top of my all-time favorite television characters.
Both shows are TV worth watching.

Banshee is so great.
Ivana Milicevic as maybe the best kickass female character on TV.
I should watch this again, starting now.

Just finished Season 3 of Yellowstone, I loved it. While a bit far fetched at some instances it was a really enjoyable watch and found myself liking some of the wranglers, like Jimmy.

Pretty crazy cliffhanger to end the season with.

S3 seems a bit more toned down and focused on the characters. I liked that it was a bit slower and built up the relationships.

We are 4 episodes into S03 and it's definitely toned down. The first few episodes of S01... chopper here, this guy was shot, but also, your wife is trouble, chopper there that guy was shot, now ride over here, this guy is trouble, stop at a store in town where there's some trouble, chopper to the capital to meet with governor but there's trouble on the way, opening credits...

Haven't seen the helicopter once in season 3.

I'm on season one and I have to admit this show has the most chopper usage of any show I can remember in recent history.

Recent shows I watched:

The Vow: It's been discussed on here a lot - a look into Keith Raniere and the NXVIUM cult that got him thrown in jail and ensnared lots of rich and famous people. The same cult that Allison Mack tried to get Emma Watson into. Lots of scary stuff and very strong on explaining why these seemingly successful people got roped in. I know Raniere still has some fanatics believing in him too, dancing outside his prison and such.

Locke and Key: Father gets killed, his family moves back to his ancestral home and discover a bunch of magical keys that a demon is after. Some good acting and a decent plot, but this is a series I thought would have benefited from more episodes, as I felt the characters weren't fleshed out enough to be on board with decisions they made very early.

Alex Rider: Based on the spy novels, a high schooler becomes a spy to find out why his uncle was killed. There was an earlier forgettable movie too, iirc. Plot stretches credulity a bit (of course) and the climax, once they told you what was going on, was fairly cliched and predictable, although at one point they had many people guessing wrong I assume. Not terrible by any stretch, and pretty much no romance subplot forced, which is a nice change of pace.

Mindhunter Season 2 was good, but I felt zero interest in Dr. Carrs relationship. It seemed shoehorned in there just to provide her a story. She could have been used to better effect, I think.

Yeah, my wife and I are big fans of Anna Torv and wish her character would have gotten a little more to work with.

The Australian political drama she's in, Secret City, is really good.

Her character was given a lot in the first season. I am not sure why she wasn't better utilized this season. I found myself continuously fast forwarding past her scenes with Kay.

The History of Swear Words hosted by Nicolas Cage on Netflix is exactly what it sounds like.

I sure hope not...

That just sounds like Nic Cage in a sauna ranting nonsensically at you.

Are you honestly telling me that doesn’t shoot up your list of shows to watch?

Check out Alice in Borderland if you are into weird Black Mirror type science fiction shows. It's a Japanese show that could have easily been an anime instead of live action.

I want to like Cobra Kai but it's pretty cheesy. The actor playing Johnny does a pretty nice job but it's not hard to see why Ralph Macchio hasn't found a lot of work since Karate Kid. He's not much of an actor. I'm on season 2 and watching him try to be the Myagi type character is cringy.

The episodes are short so the show works. And nostalgia is a powerful drug.

I was just thinking that. Ralph Macchio is kind of stunted in terms of acting ability. The last thing was My Cousin Vinny, right? He reminds me a little of Fred Savage in The Grinder. He’s not very believable as an adult.

After a while you can only take so much childish whining.

I like Cobra Kai, I think it hits its notes perfectly. Its sometimes serious, but not too serious but doesnt take itself too seriously and it blends that mix of nostalgia with self-deprecating humour like:

"yes, we know we're banging the nostalgia drum pretty hard, now we're going to bang it even harder!!"

I would say as a show that it is very 'self-aware.' And I can get behind that.

You people are driving me crazy making me think there is something wrong with me! I'm only in the first season and to me it's one of the cheesiest shows I have ever seen. I still can't get that one scene out of my head where the dude puts explosives near a tree stump, shoots it and the explosion not only excavates all the roots but leaves a crater showing a perfectly preserved dinosaur skeleton lol. I still feel like my intelligence has been insulted. I'm keeping with it only because my wife likes it and my hope is that the following seasons are much better.
