Haha, whoops.
It's interesting reading the after COVID travel thread, everyone seems willing to jump on a plane and go somewhere, and I don't blame them. I wonder if this is kind of a blessing for the MAX, as people will be less cautious about getting on one when we can travel freely, or will have forgotten all about it.

People:
I'll never set foot on a MAX aircraft..... hey - seat sale!!!
American Airlines has already re-introduced them into scheduled service, I have not heard of any customer backlash. People have short memories.

If you're reading this thread you know what plane you're on.
98% of people have no idea. I know people that don't know if there are jet engines or propellers on the plane from their last flight.
It'd be like asking what make and model was the last city bus you were on. Unless you're a geek (like us), you have no idea.

This year was the first time I booked a specific flight using the airframe as the deciding factor. It has become an item on my check list when booking flights.
I've worked on aircraft my whole life but I've never really gaf about this as I travelled (commercially) so infrequently it was all about the trip, but have been flying like crazy the last two years and it's just another thing that can make the travel a little bit more tolerable.

It should be noted that the airframe can and does change some times.

I had a family member tell me last year that they flew on a 747. I was like "Whoa! Where did you go?" and it turned out that it was Calgary-Toronto on the WestJet 789. Close enough I guess?

I had someone that didn't know what a 747 looks like, then once they saw it, they proceeded to call it ugly.

Even worse when you find out that I met this person during training for a job in the aviation industry...

Still don't like the fact that the queen will be going out of production after 50 years. I get it though, the economics for airlines don't make a lot of sense.
Wonder if they would ever do a huge redesign and have a 2 engined version of the Queen.

Isn't that pretty much the 77W (and upcoming 77X)? Minus a hump.

It's what airlines are using as a replacement for 747, but at a lower capacity and longer range.
That hump though, gotta be there.

The hump is not efficient.
The 777 is lower capacity perhaps, but 2 things have closed the gap: the 777 moving to 10-abreast in economy by pretty much all carriers, and the modern seat configuration that carriers are choosing with elaborate low-density first and business seats. Air Canada has 450-seat three class 777, with 60+ more seats than Lufthansa's 3-class queens. There is no longer a need for the 747 to exist.
Nobody is maxing out seating in the current 777 to the extent that the 77X has lower max seating capacity than the 77W it replaces, because why have an extra set of doors when nobody will put those seats in anyway. So Boeing took them out.

And do you even need the 747 as a cargo option when the Beluga is much better looking

I flew on the 747 four or five times and honestly I never liked it. Fill that thing up with Amazon boxes, but please not people.

I’m sure airlines are cramming seats in them like every other plane but I have great memories of flying on a Wairdair 747 in the early 80s.
