Including Zary and Wolf until (if?) the WHL gets up and running. That's pretty exciting! Zary looked dangerous against a mixed squad of NHLers and AHLers, so against just AHLers, I expect him to put up points.

I hope to God these line changes stick. I can't watch us go back to what didn't work the last 2 seasons.

How many times do they need to see Johnny and Monahan shut down as the top line in the playoffs?

They'd be crazy to go back to that. Stack the 1st and 3rd lines as much as you can and try and get them good matchups as the 2nd line.

If the Flames want to become an elite team they need to stick with this roster and the lines they had so far. I dont mind Monahan and Johnny staying together but I love lindholm and tkachuk together. They very easily could be our best duo. Backlund and Bennett could be a great 3rd line duo. If mangipane and dube or maybe Bennett step up this year we could have 3 great lines.

I'm also very excited to see how valimaki plays. We need more than anything a gio replacement. Get it from within and this team will finally be an elite team.

If not at least we know what we have with the young guys and a mini rebuild could set us up.

But I have a good feeling about this year if we stay healthy

The Flames have an open-minded coach this time. I predict:

Tkachuk - Lindholm - Dube
Gaudreau - Monahan - Simon
Mangiapane - Backlund - Leivo
Lucic - Bennett - Ryan

I really, really like the look of that lineup and potential line pairings.

So odd not seeing Brodie's name on there though

If Lucic doesn't stick up for his team against the Oilers this year, he can #### right off. Too many games against them for him not to show up.

What player jerseys do you have again?
You have a lot of hockey knowledge but I find it a bit humorous the players you get attached to.

I also like the lineup. I think lots of different pairings and line combos will happen with every team. Its inevitable. May as well try it quick and try it lots.

I am curious if Ryan has to pay into escrow while on taxi squad. AHLers don't, correct?

Also happy to see Mackey make it this far. Looking forward to seeing him get some game action.
Its worth it. There could be a sellers market once the trade deadline comes and cap space will be the gold for contending teams.

So if Tre is playing Circus de Soleil with Derek Ryan, and it's only a paper transaction, why doesn't he do it with Tkachuk, Gaudreau, Lindholm, Bennett and Mangiapane, the 5 highest paid forwards who do not have any movement or trade restrictions?

Would require waiving those players and losing them for nothing.

Because if you put them on waivers, you would lose them?

That's a perfect line up. Would run with exactly that.

A total of five right-shooting forwards platyed for the 2020 Stanley Cup champions. I think it is an aspect of team construction whose importance is greatly exaggerated.

Didn't the Flames finish the regular season 2nd overall in the NHL and first in the Western Conference two years ago?
