^^Have you seen the Eagles roster/cap situation? We always see quick turnarounds in the NFL, but the Eagles are in a rough, rough spot. And look at Howie's drafts recently, they could have a starting WR duo of DK Metcalf and Justin Jefferson, instead they have JJ Arcega-Whiteside and Jalon Reagor. Given the odd affinity Lurie has for Howie and what a mess that is to clean up, I don't think it's all that appealing a job, especially if Howie isn't canned.

Well sure you don’t think it is but you’re also the world champion of hot takes and worst case scenarios.

Anyway as I have said before, Cal McNair is a tool and sounds like it was chaplain Easterby who whispered in his ear for this hire. Good to know things aren't changing for the Texans.
The Easterby situation is strange. His name is blowing up in the media, but the team keeps saying he has minimal involvement. Caserio has been on the Texans’ radar since Bob McNair was in charge. Just a guess on my part, but I’d bet that Easterby was hired to help get Caserio, rather then Easterby being some crazy manipulative person taking over the team.

I mean even the Broncos would be a more appealing job, but Elway might be the only guy more untouchable than Howie.

Why does being in a rough spot that everyone knows is a rough spot constitute a problem? It basically gives you more time to stop sucking before people start thinking you might not be the guy to fix things. Look at the results that coaches like Gase and Patricia had the leeway to post before getting sacked. If no one expects anything, it's a lot easier to exceed those expectations.

I have a theory he told management that neither QB is the long-term answer.

^^I mean you brought up two of the poorest run organizations in the league in the Jets and the Lions, so yeah I guess if you want more rope work for a crappy franchise. The Eagles job seems to have very low job security given that Pederson produced three playoff years out of his last four years, with a team constantly hammered by injuries and poor personnel decisions, and yet he got canned anyway.

Not a bad theory, or maybe he said that Sudfeld is the true answer there.

Howie's relationship with Lurie is going to be the biggest deterrent for prospective hires.

Considering his draft record and the contracts he’s doled out it’s wild he’s still got the job. Him and Lurie are bros for life it seems. Best part of the job is it’s totally clean slate. No OC or DC so you can build what you want. Probably with an edict to make it work with emotional Wentz for at least one season though which sucks.

Adam Schefter
@AdamSchefter

Former Falcons’ HC Dan Quinn and the Cowboys reaches agreement for him to become Dallas’ defensive coordinator, per source.

I wonder if Matt Nagy survives in Chicago. Maybe they bring in Peterson there to try and wake up Nick Foles.

Art Smith is as rich as some owners his Dad started Fed Ex, so money probably won't play into his decision.

Quinn looked like a good DC running Carroll's defense with the Legion of Boom but his defenses in Atlanta were horrible and got even worse when he ran it. I'm not sure if this is going to lead to a major improvement for the Cowboys.

Why would Pederson go back to being a coordinator? Guarantee he'll have a HC gig before the end of the month.

I believe Syl is suggesting firing Nagy for Pederson. But yeah Pederson might jump to A1 for most coaching searches, so going somewhere with an unsettled QB situation at best doesn't seem likely.

I'm not so sure but we will find out as there's six openings so you never know.

I'd be pretty surprised if he doesn't end up with the Jets. Him and Joe Douglas have a pretty good relationship.
