I am liking that Dube is still practicing on the line with Tkachuk and Lindholm for the second straight day.

I like the sounds of that. A lot of skill on that line. Eat bread digging out pucks for Monny and Johnny. Has some potential.

Bennett, like Backlund does not work well on the wing.

Would you rather him be winger on the third line or center on the 4th? His best season points wise was playing on Backlunds wing.

I would like for him to play C but if both and and Lindholm go to center then it means Sam is on the 4th line

I want Bennett at centre too. But with Lindholm, Monahan and Backlund at centre, he is clearly the fourth centre. And I’d rather Bennett play with good players and get good minutes on Backlund’s line than get fourth line minutes and wingers. You could give him good wingers on the fourth line, but then that strips good wingers from the first 3 lines.

Those 2 could wear out the opposition with speed while setting Monahan up from different points on the ice. Would love to see what they can do! Might be an interesting way to open up more ice like they did with Jiri Hudler.

Wasn't there some talk or hints from the Flames about Moving Monahan to the wing?

I wouldn’t say Kylington in group B is retribution, but it is reflective of a bubble player that signed late, and caused himself to miss part of an abbreviated camp, which puts him on the wrong side of the bubble for now.

If it was Valimaki who showed up late due to an immigration issue, I doubt he’s put in group B.

Judging by the lines they tried it was likely Ryan to wing

I thought they were planning to move Monahan or Ryan to wing because I thought they were going to move Lindholm and Bennett to centre and keep Backlund at centre.

To be fair to the wing experiment, Backlund was stagnant up until then, and then started on fire. Maybe a coincidence, and obviously not a long term solution, but I don't think it was such a bad temporary move considering how badly everyone takes a dump on it.

Mackey has been here. Mackey has played well. Kylington’s arrival was delayed due to immigration.

Likely, neither are on the opening night roster in Winnipeg no matter how it played out.

Yes. He was delayed due to immigration, but the immigration difficulties were reasonably foreseeable. He should’ve known not to wait so long before arriving in Calgary.

I think Kylington might’ve had an opportunity to beat out Nesterov.

Do we know the details on what the immigration delay was that was foreseeable?

He was unable to get a work visa until he signed his contract. The delay was within the normal time frame so absolutely foreseeable.

In terms of whether or not delaying signing was worth it, you have to weigh what he might have gained and lost. Given where the contract landed and where he is now practicing, I doubt he sees it as worth it. I imagine the impasse was over the AHL/Taxi Squad salary, which he obviously caved on. Had he gotten the one way, its harder to say, especially this year where teams are far more mindful of dollars.

If I was negotiating a contract as a player on the bubble to make the team, I would care far more about the minor league salary then the NHL number.
