Trump said he was going to march to Capital Hill with them but he backed out.

That's hard to watch. The sooner this entire family goes away the better.

So, a London ON neonatal intensive care unit RN:
-Previously helped organize an anti-mask rally, defying government restrictions, and her own profession
-Travels internationally in the middle of a pandemic
-Posts videos of herself maskless in a crowd
-Participated in what turned out to be an armed insurrection against a foreign democracy
-Posts a video with other fascist nurses about how unfair the media has portrayed them before heading home
-Still hasn't been fired or arrested

Unbelievable.

Now explain the justification for a bunch of middle class well fed white radicals to set up the autonomous zone in Seattle and launch nightly attacks on state buildings in Portland. I expect most Black Americans watching that mayhem on TV thought they were a bunch of loons.

Still a false equivalency.

They were not ordered to do so by the sitting president of the United States.

They did not announce they were going to do it ahead of time, and they were actually met with a law enforcement response.

The claims of their grievances were not made up from whole cloth, (I'm not saying they were justified, I am just saying they were operating within the bounds of reality when the formulated their complaints).

Your comparison only servers the more egregious conspiracy theorists goal of making themselves sound legitimate. If you want to talk about how stupid the people in the free zone were, I'm sure there is a thread about that and you wont get a lot of flack from people.

I'm not claiming equivalency. I'm responding to afc's point that he has sympathy for black rioters because of the injustice they endure. So I'm asking if he grants the same sympathy to middle-class white anarchists.

Toleration of the CHAZ and Portland lawlessness was a mistake that hurt the Democrats politically. I understand that assaulting the capitol to overturn an election ratification is a whole different kettle of fish. But if the Democrats genuinely want to be seen as a party that defends law and order (and they should, because the overwhelming majority of voters do), then shrugging off the violent takeover of an entire neighbourhood for a month and anarchists setting fire to federal courthouses as misdirected high spirits was not a good look.

Again, who was the Democrat that called for or endorsed those actions?

You're not wrong about the nature of the riot in Seattle, but you are wrong to apply the narrative to the Democratic party, in the way this narrative should be applied to the Republican party.

God I wish I didn't go down that rabbit hole. I can't believe how many Canadians have a "Canada for Trump" picture frame on their facebook page.

it's still incredible to me that so many of these people not only showed their faces while committing crimes, but happily documented and uploaded them themselves. FBI and law enforcement must be in stitches.
All I can think of is that video of that toothless Hispanic man laughing himself into a coma and imagining thats the Director of the FBI.

A lot of them, tacitly. Even the mayors of the cities in which it was taking place. I mean, Trump didn't openly tell people to commit terrorism, either - he just made the right kind of noises to signal that it was okay by him if they did something extreme because they felt they were being wronged. He even repeatedly said to "keep things peaceful". So did a lot of Democrats last spring. If you see clips of buildings on fire, and the next clip is Tom Perez talking about how the "protests" are giving voice to deep seated inequalities in society, the message is not "I'm against what's happening". For those who didn't shrug it off, the message was often, "I don't condone violence, but I completely understand why this is happening because we've suffered with racism and inequality for too long", which, fair enough, but it's certainly not a message that's going to dissuade the people doing it.

Biden certainly came out with some strong condemnations, but not until later on.

He literally said to march down there and do that and then his lawyer then said " let's have trial by combat"......

Its like Trump is a Drug. One that rots out the rational part of your brain.

Something that makes otherwise educated and intelligent individuals start doing insane things entirely out of character.

It wouldnt surprise me one bit if a year after being heaved out of the White House he has a fenced-off compound in Costa Rica called 'Trumporea.'

And Kushner will probably be his Kamp Kommandante.
