Right now, they aren't liable for the content that is posted on their networks, so they won't suffer any legal repercussions for the rioters using their platform to plan their activities. But guaranteed, there's going to be a lot of scrutiny in the coming months over the role that social media played in this attack, and my guess is they (twitter, facebook, reddit) know that they're going to come off looking awful. Both parties could decide to put a lot of the blame on them, so if they suspend Trump maybe they can at least minimize some of the Democratic outrage.

I see no way that the major tech companies, starting with Facebook arent going to get broken up like Standard Oil, a long overdue move, they know it and are trying to manouver for leverage or at least a bit of good will.

Incredible. Seems like such a small thing on the surface but this is actually huge.
With Twitter following suit with the other platforms the internet has essentially snatched his mic away for good.
He's going to feel neutered needing to go to Newsmax to rant, or call in to Fox who will probably get sick of him too.
Karma is coming down hard on him and his cronies. It came late, but the hammer of justice will come down nonetheless.
