At the risk of decontextualizing it, you can kinda think of it as a trolley problem, with the caveats that: (a) the one person on the track is responsible (not solely, but at least partially) for putting the trolley in motion, knowing that it's heading toward a group of people; and (b) the trolley may actually derail before hitting the group of people; you don't know for sure that they will die if you take no action.
She was trying to break into a room with the VP of the united states on the other side...all the other people were just wandering empty halls and rooms acting like idiots
It wasn't just her as well, which is crucial, on her own this shooting would be utterly wrong, but her at the head of a mob baying for blood and breaking down the doors the cops have no choice and frankly acted with great restraint just shooting one of the mob.
About the woman who was shot and killed I have some questions for the people saying she deserved it:
So people are saying it's not surprising she was shot but how many people entered the Capitol? Hundreds? Thousands? And only one shot by the security?
So all the hundreds/thousands of people should have been shot? Just mowed down? Is that what you are advocating? Because if the one woman deserved to die then they all did.
And if that had happened you'd be totally OK with it?
This is a dumb exercise. There are many unique situations among all of these people
By engaging in an insurrection, or domestic terror, she put herself in a risky situation. Nobody wants anybody to die, and the extrapolation that everybody should be mowed down is not worth dignifying

Yeah I have seen two distinctly different types in the videos from inside. Those who basically went for a social media picture tour and stayed within the velvet ropes; and those who lead the charge breaking down doors, chasing cops, and vandalizing.
I wish the media would stop showing the images of the cushy tour guide type, people are conflating the two.

Nobody said that. All that has been said is that she wasn't an innocent victim, and law enforcement was justified.
Personally, I'm sickened and disturbed someone died slowly for the sake of Donald ####ing Trump.

The only astounding thing here, which has been commented on countless times, is that she was the only one shot.

Every single person involved in the storming of the Capitol should be reflecting on how lucky they are to be alive, let alone how lucky they are to be wandering around posting their insanity on the internet.
They deserved quelling to a far greater measure than peaceful, non-violent, non-threatening protesters were when the orange goblin wanted to pose for a picture with an upside-down Bible. That they walked away from this, and in some cases were gently escorted down the steps of the Capitol building, would be short of a miracle if the double standard weren't so ####ing obvious.

Ignorant, privileged dummies.

This is America afterall. And Republican party supporters. These people definitely have guns at home. But I didn't hear any reports of them carrying weapons.
Then you haven't looked hard enough. There were reports of multiple IEDs - pipe bombs - found. Also reports of Molotov Cocktails and general "firearms" found on the grounds.

A cooler containing a long gun and Molotov cocktails were also seized at the Capitol. And six firearms were recovered Wednesday, in addition to three the night before, according to Contee.
Fourteen D.C. police officers were injured in the unrest, including two who remained hospitalized Wednesday night.

These people are fools playing revolution who have been scammed by Trump and the media echo chambers they follow. They never should have been able to enter the Capitol. The police failed bigtime.
Yep.

There’s another video of it, and they clearly barricaded themselves in and made that there last line of defense. You can see police pointing the gun at them and chairs were used to barricade the doors. I’m sure there was a warning that if anyone got through they would be shot. She started jumping through the window and got shot. No one else tried going through the window after that. Not happy that anyone had to die, but it’s really hard to feel sorry for her.

I don't know if you've watched the video of her getting shot, but it's pretty obvious why she got shot where others didn't. Officers were guarding the Speaker's Lobby; if you get through that door you're essentially right at the House Chamber . Here's a picture (the 4 sets of doors you can see come from the Speaker's Lobby):
The officers had piled up a bunch of furniture to barricade the door, but this woman broke the glass and was climbing through. At that point this was basically the last line of defense before people got into the House Chamber so they shot her. And they likely would've shot anyone else that tried to do the same.
If it was a different situation (not protecting hundreds of government officials, officers/officials not cornered, etc.) then it would probably be harder to justify. But as it happened, it's hard to feel sorry for this person at all. These people broke into the center of government of the most powerful nation in the world, smashed through doors and windows to move towards where the House and Senate were in session, and advanced on armed officers. I'm honestly shocked that more people didn't get shot.

I can't help but wonder what exactly Trump's desired outcome was for these events. Was he just hoping they would intimidate members of Congress and occupy the building in a lengthy standoff, or that they would light the place on fire, or that his supporters would end up getting violently crushed by the police? It could have been much worse, and it doesn't sound like he was satisfied with the outcome.

Assuming it was physical disruption of electoral college count, and destruction of supporting physical documentation, to try to create uncertainty and push Biden confirmation out
Obviously no one wanted to see anyone else get hurt but ya I am intrigued as well with the idea of what would have happened had things gone on longer. Would they have taken hostages and made demands? Would they have only held Dems? What if they had captured Pence? How would Trump have reacted?
Dion, can you please stop posting old info that has been posted before in this thread? If you don't want to read everything, that's fine. But stop posting stuff that is just new to you.
Pretty much the same story of the funny picture and video threads
