Good lord, that is so wrong

I was just going to say the same thing. I don't know if there's a less connected person in Calgary to the Flames than Francis when it comes to having a handle on Treliving's plans.

Plus, when it comes to Gaudreau and Monahan, he's been ready for them to go for 3 years. But people who aren't Flames fans wouldn't know that.

Don’t forget Dougie needed his baggage handler brother on the team. You hear about how close this Flames team is now and Dougie wasn’t part of that. The guy was a great player but easy to get frustrated with and I am still very happy with the deal that worked out to be a win-win for both.
Main reason I wanted Dougie gone though is what Carolina is going to have to do to keep him and that is give up a 8-10M per deal on a long term. I am glad the Flames do not need to deal with that pending contract this season/offseason
|
Hopefully this close team can win this year. I suspect that a guy like Dougie helps you in terms of winning, but hopefully this is the year the Flames can start winning. They are certainly in the division to do that this year, if they do not at least make the second round it is an abject failure.

I'd eagerly hop aboard the Johnny-Dubois trade train. I don't see it for CBJ though, they already have smallish wing talent and no real depth at centre.

I don't recall him ever having it in for a player like he has it in for Gaudreau in particular. I wonder it the players treat him like the hack he is?

TBH Dubois for Laine seems like a perfect match for both organizations right down to the fact they were drafted one after the other.

I agree this is a big year for the team and expectations at a minimum would be for a second round appearance.
Did you forget the whole boneheaded penalty/hot mic moment from the 2017 playoffs where a lazy penalty that lead to the game winning goal?
https://dailyhive.com/calgary/flames...-hamilton-2017
Don’t get me wrong though I know Dougie played in the finals with Boston and made round 3 in year one with the Canes. I am much more comfortable with Lindholm and Hanifin that I am with Hamilton on the team especially when we factor in contracts.

Personally, I feel gaudreau, in spite of his short comings (no pun intended), is a better and more complete winger than Laine is (or ever will be... my opinion only).
It's tough having a top 6 with wingers like Atkinson AND Gaudreau, but I could see the jackets being interested. Though having a US born star might be another factor that might be of interest.

"Having Dubois in Calgary would allow the Flames to move Elias Lindholm back to his natural wing position"
lol. Well, he's been away from it for so long.

I don't see many trades this season... especially with the Canadian teams

Agreed. The quarantine kind of ruins the desire to make changes to your team mid season. Especially if its an impact player coming/going. Its a large risk.

Would players have to 14-day quarantine if they are traded in the middle of the season?

I believe if they come from an American team they would, but if AHL players aren't subjected to that then I'm unsure. Grey area to me. If someone has the answers please chime in. But it sounded to me like any delay along those lines would be a barrier to making a big trade in season.

Ahl and nhl players coming from the US need to quarantine. It’s why there are taxi squads

Yeah, I can see if the teams need to dip in to their taxi squads for injured players, they recalling someone from the minors and putting them into the quarantine protocol. It would have been good if we could have figured out a local spot for the heat.

Isn’t the taxi squad 6 players including a goalie. I highly doubt we will see a call up this season unless a big rash of injuries at the same time happens.
