I don't get your responses to the other poster, why are you being an sarcastic ass?
I just read a couple pages, so of course there could be more context and history but basically I read:
-Barca makes some points
-you dismiss all of them with some sarcastic comment without addressing any of them specifically i.e. you simply hand waive and claim they are a troll and thereby try to claim their entire point is wrong.
Now I like hockey, and like the flames. I also can't stand the nucks, but I don't know enough about any team to make any sort of insightful comment.
I only write this, because from my undedicated perspective, the flames are getting demolished in the team discussion between you and Barca. Barca has points that you won't address or you get unreasonably snarky in addressing - this is usually the first sign in a discussion that the person is concerned that their position is weak and they choose to dig their heels in and lash out, in lieu of engaging in good faith to fairly discuss the issue. It is like you can't rationally concede the nucks have ANY better stats than the flames, or if they are better, they are meaningless and therefore, you refuse to discuss them specifically. It just reads as bully tactics to me, and a bully who is on home ground given this is a flames forum.
In short, why are you acting like this?

Now the real question is, which teams depth can better handle the loss of one of em. That box gets checked in CGYs favor. We have better depth.
|
I there a single Flame poster that would say that Hamonic would not have played in last years playoffs if he showed up? Hamonic improves every NHL teams depth at the very least.
He played 20:51 on the 2018-19 Flames team that finished 2nd in league and was the best regular season team in the West
The Flames lost Brodie and Hamonic and Forbort and Gustaffson and Stone and replaced with Tanev and Valimaki and Mackey and Nesterov and Petrovic
I do not see that the Flames got deeper on defense in the 2020 off season.
The Canucks lost Tanev and Stecher and Fantenberg and replaced with Schmidt and Hamonic and Rathbone.
Juolevi would be a bonus add for them much the same as if Kylington plays better than a #6-7 D-man.

[QUOTE=Blaster86;7678065]Damn, you got me. This one hurts. What can I do to soothe this burn?
Oh! I know!
Elias Pettersson career play-off points: 18 in 17 games.
Matthew Tkachuk career play-off points: 5 in 15 games
Oh yeah, that's the good stuff. I feel better now.[/QUOTE
Lol, sure Pettersson had a nice playoff. So did Sam Bennett.
Let’s not pretend the Canucks didn’t get badly outplayed most games, and get lucky with some wins from good goaltending and being opportunistic. We all watched those games

In short, why are you taking such offense for someone else?
It's called rivalry banter, and both guys love to engage in it. As do I. No one is crying here.
I didn't respond in detail to his points because I was tired and going to bed, but wanted to get a jab in before I did. I shouldn't really need to explain myself to keep random internet whistle blowers like yourself happy. Like what on earth?
It's not even in the realm of bullying when both sides are engaging in it, and especially not when Barca lays bait with his/her posts lol. They know full well what they're doing. And you're damn right it's a Flames board! We will give tough love every one of those outside fans that want to come in here and beat their chests.
Man the off season really lures out the cave trolls in numbers.

I don't think I wrote I was offended. I commented because the flames are getting owned in your discussion an so I was wondering if you had any facts to support your position. I ask "why are you acting like this" as I was wondering if indeed you truly though the other poster was right and were lashing out as you were to try to hide that.

meh, banter when only one participant is acting sarcastically and refusing to discuss any of the specific points of the other participant... isn't banter, it just looks... sad?

Need to explain? You 100% don't need to but you chose to. Feel free to hit the ignore button on me, you don't NEED to explain anything.
However, if your confused why someone else chimed in on an internet social media site/message board about your public conversation, I must ask, are you joking? If you don't want other peoples insights or comments on your discussion I would advise you to talk strictly in PM's. You are posting publicly for all to see.
This is a message board, not private conversations. I honestly can't tell if you are kidding that your wondering why someone commented on your discussion or not?

How depressing it must be that the only player you can point to as having had "a good play-off" is the Flames equivalent of Jake Virtanen.
Other than the Vegas series, who were just an awful match-up, the Canucks held their own, and even then took that one to 7 games. Flames fans sitting around here #### talking like 2004 never happened and they don't celebrate a Finals appearance based upon getting out played, but having good defensive a structure and a goalie to rely on. Then again, it's been so long since you've had a goalie to rely on, I guess you maybe have forgotten?

I liked Hamonic from time to time, but he always left you wanting more.
I could never get over the trade though. It was bad at the time, and just got worse. Missing the playoffs after giving up the 1st was such a blow to this club. All for naught.

Don't worry. That still isn't as bad as how badly Dallas owned the Flames.

Remember when Dallas beat the team that destroyed the Canucks?
Flames were 10 seconds away from beating Dallas missing their best forward

Lol chased him out of his job...Demko had the Canucks on pace to miss the playoffs until covid saved him. Got in with injury.
Holtby has been a disaster the last 3 regular seasons

Oh boy. Don't let the two rounds of playoffs on the backs of your goalies go to your head my dude.
I'm sure glad we didn't in 2015. Because rebuilding certainly isn't a linear process.
What was that shot clock in game 7 again? The only time I've seen more lopsided performance in recent memory was when the Flames outshot the Canucks 4:1 in Vancouver but Markstrom put up a wall.
Thanks for him by the way.

Maybe your memory is poor but Flames outplayed all their playoff opponents in 2004 including the Lightning. That was maybe the most relentless hockey team I have ever witnessed as every loose puck was contested as the Wings and Sharks in particular were beaten down by the relentless forchecking.

My point was bringing up a player that was completely irrelevant to the comparison of Tkachuk and Juolevi. Like you did.
And our version Jake Virtanen was our best player for us, yes. Your players were your best players and I would say your team overachieved in the playoffs. So how’s that for depressing?
If the Flames best players were out best players, rather than Bennett then I’d like to see how far the Flames would have went.

I wasn't aware Thatcher and Jacob put up all those goals as well. Damn those two are next level! I'm very aware step backs are possible, but I'm not sure I see it. Unless your implication is that Hughes and Pettersson will get worse instead of better? Tanev is better than Schmidt?

And they still put such a spell on Vegas that they continued to not be able to score vs Dallas. I'm pretty a-okay with that performance, no matter how you want to slice it.
