I think the Flames intentionally have some fringe NHLers in the bottom 6, so as not to hand a rookie a spot but the opportunity to win one is there. Guys like Pelletier and Zary could potentially be effective in the bottom 6. Personally, I think Zary's not quite there but Pelletier looks great

Zary is no where near being NHL ready, he doesn't have the strength, and his skating still needs work. He is years away.
Pelletier, on the other hand, plays NHL hockey right now - he does everything right. So much like Dube. He probably has no shot at staying this year, but next year is definitely a possibility for him.
Dube and Pelletier flanking a line would be a delight to watch.

Agreed, players like Ryan would be hard to move with most teams having zero cal flexibility. Maybe at the deadline things might be different.
