Which gives us Flames-Leafs which the Flames win 4-1 and move to the final 4.

Flames have a horrible year and miss the playoffs but end up with a top 3 pick.
A Canadian team wins the cup.

One team shuts it down due to Covid

a few MAJOR blockbuster moves happen; McDavid, one with the Flames and one with a player no one would imagine

A US team relocates to Canada and/or a Canadian expansion team (QUE/GTA) is announced

Brodie is a stud for the leafs and is in the Norris Trophy conversation.
Giordano is traded before the deadline.

Mangiapane is traded to the Blackhawks.

Montreal beats Calgary in the semi-finals to make the conference final.

Zary or Pelletier make the their debut after injuries or Covid deplete the squad.

We see a Buddy Robinson - Sam Bennett - Milan Lucic line at least once.

Bruins do not make the playoffs, and finish bottom 5 in the league.

the chances of predicting 4 teams is very remote, but I think it is a pretty good bet that the Leafs and Flames are the top 2 teams. And I think it is a pretty tight race for the next 2 spots between EDM, WPG, VAN, and MTL. Any of them could be 3rd, or miss the playoffs.

Even less chance. The Oilers won’t have sniff at the playoffs let alone third.

I’ll add another, our line configurations end up something like:Gaudreau - Lindholm - Monahan
 Tkachuk - Backlund - Mangiapane
 Lucic - Bennett - Dube
 Simon - Gawdin - Leivo

That could be pretty nice with a couple huge If’s: Monahan excels on the wing, Bennett excels at C (or at all). Looks pretty deep.

Both Edmonton and Vancouver finish below Ottawa tied for last in the North. Despite no fans in attendance one still manages to sneak in at Rogers Place to throw an Oilers jersey on the ice.
Dillon Dube plays RW on the 1stvline with Tkachuk and Lindholm, he ends up top 5 in the NHL in points.
Elias Pettersson takes a hit in game one and his twig like frame almosts explodes into itty bitty pieces. Trainer's can't put him back together again and he retires.

Canucks play the Oilers in game one. The Oil don’t have anyone that can hit that hard.

Early in the season we see the following lines really click and drive the Flames to a 35-17-4 record for 74 points.
 Tkachuk - Lindholm - Mangiapane
 Gaudreau - Monahan - Leivo
 Bennett - Backlund - Dube
 Lucic - Ryan - Simon

Bennett playing between two high-IQ wingers might be just what the doctor ordered
 |
I would love it just as much as anyone, but I just don't see it happening.

Having just watched AC's Bennett playoffs highlight video, there is no question that Bennett is a really tough, tenacious hockey player who is built for success in the playoffs. But he just does not have the scoring skills needed to play on the second line. He doesn't handle the puck very well, his passing is average, his shot is pretty good, and his vision is ... questionable. Higher IQ wingers are not going to will Bennett to second-line production, and I still don't believe he has the skill to get himself there.

I think he can be a solid third-line centre option for the Flames, but I am also more convinced than ever that Bennett's offensive ceiling is not much higher than where he has been his entire NHL career.
