Don’t get it. Tkachuk is a better player and paid more?
My argument is Tkachuk is the better player and both players have the same term now left. Your argument was an unsigned Dubois somehow has more value. He was paid accordingly as was Tkachuk. Chucky is easily worth $2M more.
My point was Tkachuk is the better player and asset so your reply does what exactly?

Tkachuck is a better player so its reasonable that he makes a little more...especially considering how different things are ATM

Agent leak to pressure Columbus a bit. Don't think LeBrun is in the wrong at all.

CGY needs Monahan to develop this if he is to be a 200ft center imo.

I always find this odd in today's NHL. Kane, Marner, Panarin, Kucherov etc., are all wingers and do the majority of puck carrying for their lines and are the leading scorers on their teams.

Told that as of now #Isles are not inviting Josh Ho-Sang to training camp. Ho-Sang signed a one-year, two-way deal on Oct. 27. Could attend AHL camp later in January, but will likely not be with the group that starts main camp on Sunday.
Lou is making an example of Ho-Sang, by destroying his career. That'll show 'im.

So, what exactly did Ho-Sang do?

Teams are only allowed 36 skaters at camp. I don't really see the problem if the Islanders don't think Ho-Sang is one of the best 36 skaters they have available.
Ho-Sang has been on the trade block for a while now and has cleared waivers in the past.

He was late for a couple of practices in his first year, and was generally an over-cocky prick. There was an article earlier this year (can't remember if it was in the Athletic or by Ho-Sang himself) that detailed how hard he was working to become a better teammate, and person, since that first year.
Lou don't care. Ho-Sang won't likely be picked up if on waivers, because his development is too risky for a roster spot. Good trade for another underperforming/space filler AHL player, though. They should trade him, but likely won't out of spite.

per the Athletic, even though PLD has signed a new contract with CBJ, he still wants to be traded
https://theathletic.com/2295491/2020...shared_article
Quote:
One source told The Athletic that the relationship between Dubois and the Blue Jackets changed during negotiations this fall.
The Blue Jackets may have been willing to sign Dubois to a long-term contract that would have reached into his unrestricted free agency seasons, but apparently a short-term “bridge contract” was preferred by Dubois’ camp for two reasons: (1) It gives Kekalainen time to seek a trade for Dubois and get a return that is commensurate with his value, rather than force an immediate trade. (2) It keeps Dubois from being locked in with Columbus long-term.
As a restricted free agent, Dubois was allowed to speak with other NHL franchises since free agency began on Oct. 9. Dubois did not sign an offer sheet, obviously, but the Blue Jackets were extremely wary of one, which is why they traded defensemen Ryan Murray and Markus Nutivaara at liquidation prices on the eve of free agency.
It was in these discussions with other clubs, apparently, that Dubois’ desire to leave Columbus was made clear.

Okay back to Dubois rumors.
I do think a fit between the Jets and Jackets with Dubois and Laine makes sense. 2 high end young players that want out of their current situations.

I have a feeling if Jarmo doesn’t want to pay Dubois they sure as hell won’t want to pay Lainne his next contract.
I think Monahan/Dubios is such a match for both teams, just iron out some of the specifics.

That looks like it could work, but I don't think CBJ will deal Dubios without getting a really good centre in return. After PLD they have Domi and Dubinsky down the middle. That's bad.

I see that Finnish connection and I thought it made even more sense but ya I am not sure Laine is a Torts type player either.
I agree Monahan/Dubois as a base makes sense for both teams. Flames need to add so not sure exactly what.
Going back to my Monahan+Hanifin for Dubois+Savard. With Dubois contract locked in that is $11.325 out and 9.25 in for more than $2M in space created which would allow the Flames to sign another UFA.
Also saw someone on HF post Gaudreau+Monahan for Dubois+Bjorkstrand. I think that is a super risky deal for the Flames but they could be acquiring 2 players who are about to pop. They could also be selling very low on one of the better duos in the league over the last 6 years.

Is Roslivic a C? I could see him as part of the deal.
Jackets may want a C+W combo. Are people willing to include a Mangipane or Dube with Monahan to land Dubois?

I would do that; but would prefer Mangiapane moved before Dube.

I don’t think Dubios is worth both Monahan and Hanifin. I’d rather something like Monahan + Kylington and a third/second or something that way.
Or like above Monahan + Mangiapane for PLD to me is fair value.

If the Flames were going to spend a huge amount for a center, I'd rather they go for Barzal, Point, Eichel, or Hughes. These guys have much higher upsides than Dubois IMO. They'd cost more, but it would be worth it.
Problem is, none of these guys are even available right now. So maybe the Flames should just wait. The Lightning might have a hard time keeping Point past his next contract. Eichel might get fed up with Buffalo. Same thing with New Jersey for Hughes. Barzal just signed an extension, but I could see him being available afterwards.

It would be amazing if we could get Dubois without giving up Tkachuk, Monahan, Lindholm, Gaudreau, Andersson or Valimaki.
Jarmo seems like a pretty patient guy though and I doubt he is in a hurry to move him regardless of what Dubois wants.

The Flames aren’t getting any of those guys, or are they choosing to come here.
PLD had a chance to become a bonafide 2 way scoring number one centerman. These opportunities don’t come up every day.
