Every year, its not a question of when or how many. They have a blind spot to talent, and their hockey team that's fine. But I don't see any other fanbases that brag about nothing like Oiler fans do.
I was trying to explain to my wife why Oilers fans are the worst, and ended up here. Every team has, let's call them optimistic, fans, but I've never seen a fanbase so confident about so little. Beyond that, it's the way they talk about the league, as if they've been repeatedly wronged and are somehow owed something (be it success, or yet another 1st overall selection).
It's astounding.

Yeah, no kidding. Last year the Oilers smashed the single-season record for powerplay success, and a lot of what you hear is that Edmonton was constantly shafted by the officials because McHobo is so tremendous that he should be drawing a penalty every single shift if the NHL was not so biased against them. And then there are the dozens upon dozens of idiotic Oilers fans who insist that it was somehow unfair that they had to play in the play-in round before the playoffs last year. No, the reason the Oilers missed the playoffs is actually because they had to play the super-scary and incredibly talented Chicago Blackhawks! So unfair!

Wait.. when/how did they go from losers to a 12th seed rebuilding team to being a real threat?
Did I miss when their club took some massive leap forward?
I just see the same two one dimensional talents surrounded by a slightly different pile of trash.
The offseason happened.
No matter where they finish the season before, no matter the embarrassment, no matter how many jersey tosses. The offseason comes and its back to the start of the carrousel for Oilers fans and their media
Connor runs into a guy and trips, remanda tears flow like someone booted his favorite puppy.
I've said for years that the Edmonton broadcast crew is the least professional in the NHL and sportsnet should really be embarressed whenever they're on the air.
