Here are some predictions

The Flames play 9 back to back games in 56 games like they did last season under a 70 game season and 10 back to backs in 82 games in 2019-20.

Certain Flames were not at their best in BTB games: Monahan had 1 goal in 9 B_T_B games last season Tkachuk had 4 assists in his 8 BTB games

There will be injuries. The taxi squad will not be enough. Huge advantage to Winnipeg, Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa having AHL in Canada and close to team. Predict that the Flames Canucks and Oilers "loan" a couple of top AHL players to a Canadian AHL team.

There will be bad season ruining losing streaks where there is no between game time to sort things out.

The back up goalie will be extremely important and will be getting 1 start out of 4.

Toronto Ottawa and Montreal will be impacted by more travel and games out of their own time zone.

Last year Toronto had 14 games out of 70 games outside the Eastern time zone... this year they will have 18 out of 56 games out of their home time zone.

Elite scoring will be suppressed... McDavid and Drasitl Matthews, Marner Connor, Schiefele, will have a tough time playing over 20 minutes a game at their 2019-20 level in a compressed schedule.

The coaches need to figure out on how to pace their older players (less ice time and possibly sitting out some games)

It will be really interesting how the Flames manage Gio's TOI. This compressed schedule is not ideal for the older players. And there will be some drastic fall offs in performance versus expectations.

Yet every year the media pundits and Vegas oddsmakers pick them to be one of the top teams. It is truly baffling!!!

Valimaki wins Norris beating out Raz by only a few votes.
The Vezina comes to Calgary for 1 of out goalies.
Lindholm and Backs are mentioned in Selke talk.
Ward wins the Jack Adams
7 players have career years in Calgary

Well, we’re guaranteed to see a Canadian team in the conference finals, so I’ll say Canada ends it’s drought and a Canadian team wins the Stanley Cup.

The Flames set the regular season record for points if all this happens. I wouldn’t complain.

Edmonton was 37-25-9 for .584 when play stopped while Calgary was 36-27-7 for .564

But you have to tack on the play in games as they're not technically playoffs, which the Oilers missed.

So Edmonton's pre playoff record was 38-28-9 for .567

Calgary was 39-28-7 for .574

Flames finish tops in the Canadian division and top 3 in the league.

Johnny leads the Flames in scoring with 80+ points. Tkachuk is second on Flames also with 80+ points.

Markstrom comes as advertised and rounds out the group of Johnny, Tkachuk and Markstrom as Flames MVP.

Valimaki starts the season on the bottom pairing and by mid-season, moves up to the second pairing in terms of minutes played. Finds a spot on the top PP unit early in the season.

Dube brings it and becomes a lock in the top 6.

Given that there are only 56 games, I don’t see a record in points.

Unless it’s most points in a 56 game season

Monahan regains his confidence and fills the net with the help of new linemate Leivo, finishes top 3 in league goal scoring.
