"Bearly average" on the scale for bottom-pairing defensemen. (And I fail to see what Alberta politics has to do with this.)
I would actually qualify all legitimate top-four defensemen in the NHL as very good. You have to be much better than average to play 20 mins a night on a decent NHL second pair.
