I have the 55" version and love it.

Great picture and features for the price

One complaint is when I am streaming stuff from Plex the TV seems to have an issue with any 5.1 sound - the sound becomes tinny.

I deal with it for now as we are likely moving soon, and then I will have a proper speaker setup for it

I'll always argue that OLED vs non-OLED is worth more than 10 inches is to the overall experience. If I had a 75 inch LED, there would just be more grey area (that's supposed to be black) staring me in the face. If you're staying within the same technology, then I'd probably agree with your statement.

I'm debating between the Sony XBR75X900H and the LG OLED65CXPUA. The Sony is larger, $200 cheaper, and already runs Android TV so I wouldn't need to buy a Shield (another $200 savings). Is OLED worth that much to spend more for the smaller size?

I feel this really depends on multiple things as discussed previously, how far away will you be when viewing, main uses for the TV, why is Android TV a must? as LG's Smart TV OS is one of the best and easiest to use on the market.

If you would prefer to get a 75 inch 8/10 rated TV over a 65 inch 9-10/10 rated TV then go for it.

The true blacks, contrasts and picture quality will always be better on the OLED. But at specific distances you will be less likely to notice...except for most probably true black.

My setup in the main floor living room has the TV about 11-12 feet from where we sit, so that's why I ultimately ended up grabbing the 75' Sony. I still want the 77' LG OLED eventually, but that will be a few years down the road when they're hopefully a bit cheaper, and then this TV will go to the bonus room for the kids. And Android on the TV just means I can save a bit of money on another Shield, I'm invested in the Google ecosystem and it lets me do things like sideload apps and run a VPN directly on the TV instead of on a router for stuff like Hulu

I have wanted a OLED for years and started to shop for one April 2020 ish.. was trying to wait for black friday ended up buying a little bit before for a sale price sadly dropped further on black friday but got a Sony A8H oled and it is amazing.

Was it on sale for less than the LG CX at the same size? Just curios as to why you chose the Sony model? Brand loyalty? Personal preference?

So I paid $2900 in sept but black friday dropped to $2500. When it was released price was $3900.

A little bit of brand loyalty family has always had Sony and had no problems. Also the older 700d TV had android TV and it was decent and wife liked it so she didn't want to switch to something drastically different.

I do not game really at all so mostly for TV and movies. It is the general consensus Sony is better for movies vs LG for games. I don't remember what the CX was going for around black friday but I am sure they were pretty similar in price.

The Sony is very well built and the screen is slim but sturdy i found the CX had a lot of wobble and didn't feel built as well. Not a huge deal as it doesn't move much.

I was pretty open to either but i was doing lots of research for months and yeah just with my usage felt the Sony was better.

When i was at visions in person seeing the same movie on the A8H vs LG GX i much preferred the sony's picture but i know it can be a bit hard to judge in store because of different settings and such.

Yeah Sony OLED is king for movies and LG is tops for gaming. Sony also has some of the best upscaling you can find, rivaling even the Nvidia Shield for 4K upscaling. That said I do game quite a bit, so when I dive into OLED I'm going for LG paired with a Shield for hopefully the best of both worlds

It's one of the best non-OLED TVs you can buy, but looking at prices I'm seeing it listed at 3k. Why not buy the LG OLED 65" for $300 less?

Thanks for the reply. I'll have to do some more research. I just thought QLED was Samsung's OLED equivalent. Might go 75" now, I saw some 65" TVs and they didn't seem to large to me. We'll see.

We just bought a 75" Q80T and the picture is underwhelming with regular HD programs not being very sharp. I watched a little bit of the NBA this morning and sitting ~11ft away you could not make out detail on the players faces. Just sort of a blurry.
I'm assuming that I just got a bum TV. I'll see what it is like watching football this weekend.

Try running Netflix app that runs on the TV. Not the cable box (if there is one)

Play Narcos Season 2, something with HDR and 4K.

Also run calibration on the picture. That will turn off any crap factory settings like motion blur. Just google the model name and “calibration settings”

I find Shaw in particular had poor HD picture. Both Telus and Shaw have junk netflix apps. So I like to test by calibration and running HDR 4K show over Netflix or Disney+ (Mandilorian)

How are you liking the Sony? Specifically for sports. I was looking at the 85” version.

I'll let you know whenever it arrives. I got it from Leon's, and they said they would try for delivery sometime before Feb. That was better than trying to get it from Amazon, which had a March 1 ship date
