I understand that everyone love the way that "playoff Bennett" plays the game. Personally I think that the reason that he was more effective during the post-season was that he was moved back to centre, and that his two wingers were NHL players. That is sustainable.

He looked good the few times he was put at C in the regular season as well. Plus, didn’t he himself say that he preferred playing C?

I think Bennett is at that age where I think he can have a similar trajectory to Ferland. Around 24 is when Ferland started making strides, which is a couple years after the Ferkland break out series.

Yep. It’s like Ferland’s series against the Canucks. Guys can play with that intensity of 5 or 8 games. But it’s impossible to sustain, and the body breaks down.

What kind of deal to expect if Hanifin is dealt?
Quote:
Given that Hanifin is only soon-to-be 24-years-old, and under a very reasonable contract for the next four seasons at $4.95 million, the package heading back to Calgary will be significant. Would Jake DeBrusk and John Moore be enough? Not likely, but that would definitely be a conversation starter.

Bruins got some excellent prospects and own all their upcoming draft picks.

And we already have too many forwards needing expansion draft protecting.
I feel like with our defence corps right now, it would take an overpayment to get Hanifin.

Tampa's cap issues may be solved for now.
Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
TB's cap issues may be solved by LTIR. There is word Nikita Kucherov is battling an injury that may keep him out awhile. No comment from team/agent, so details are sketchy -- but clarity expected this week. If unable to play (unfortunately), it will clear room for the Lightning.

Doesn’t make any sense until after expansion. Hanifin isn’t going anywhere but up, and we could use the depth in this weird season.

Is there a minimum amount of games or time for a player to be on LTIR?

Source: The Bruins are looking at a trade to improve the defense before re-signing Zdeno Chara.
Could this potential Bruins trade to improve the defence be for Noah Hanifin?

Why are so many CPers hot to get rid of Hanifin? Trading a 24-year-old top-four defenceman isn't going to help this season, and trading him for prospects is unlikely to get you an equivalent player in the future.

I hate all the Hanifin trade rumors
We are pretty well set with Andersson, Hanifin and Valimaki as a core 3 on defense for the next 5 years at least. Would rather add to it, not break it

The cap is not moving up for a couple seasons at least.
Trading a D man who is top pairing capable with less than a 5M cap hit is just about the stupidest thing.

I'm not advocating for a Hanifin trade. I just saw the tweet, and it made me think of Hanifin because of the previous Hanifin to Boston trade rumours.
I did not say I want the Flames to trade Hanifin.

Top pairing capable? in what league? There is a difference between capability and potential. Could Hanafin become a top pairing D, yeah, I wouldn't argue against that. But I wouldn't be surprised if he never hits that height. I'm not sure many would say he is a top pairing D right now. Further, until you know what the return is, how would you know said deal is stupid? That's a pretty baseless claim.
Less than 5M/season isn't a top pairing D. He would be making 6M minimum if he was a top pairing D. Based on rumors, and Friedman just spoke about this on his hit with Stienberg, is that his name is out there. Clearly they see his spot as a top 4 D on this team as a tenuous one. With Valamaki and Mackey in the pipeline, seems like he is a nice chip the Flames can leverage to bolster the lineup elsewhere.
