Nice!
Any thought on how the schedule will be broken down? If there is a Canadian division I guess that means 9 or 10 BOAs(!), then the American teams could play each other once with an extra 4 or 5 games vs each divisional opponent.
If no Canadian divisions then I’d assume all divisions stay they same, and we’d get something like one game vs every team with an additional 3 or 4 divisional opponent games.

One would think if it was one province the league would just move that team to a city that is in a province that is not holding it up (Saskatoon, Quebec City). It is not like they are having fans in the stands. Seems odd that it could be one province and the solution is to move 7 teams worth of players away from their families for 5 months.

exciting news, hopefully they can figure out a way to keep the Canadian teams at home instead of playing exclusively in the US

So excited for the season to start! Looking forward to the return of the OOT posts from Gaskal and participating in the roller coaster game threads with extreme high to low transitions every few minutes.

If it stays a Canadan division I cant see us not winding up in the top 4 there. It would also be glorious to see the Oilers in the bottom 3....

Does a player need to be placed on waivers to be put on the Taxi squad.

How soon you forget that to be a flames fan means new and exciting ways to be disappointed each year!
I do think they have a good shot at that top four, though.

Canadian health authorities (ie whichever province is blocking this) get your act together and figure this out.

From what I read, it’d be the same if they were sent down to the minors in a normal season.
So in Beef Wellington’s case, yes.

Word tonight NHLPA executive board will support the temporary agreement...although it still must be papered. NHL BoG vote to follow in next few days.

As much as we want hockey back - it isn't a necessity and if the health authorities don't approve, I won't be slamming them.
Frankly on the long list of things the health authorities need to figure out - this ones way down there.

Don’t disagree but you have to think there are solutions. If BC has issues, have the Canucks play in another province.
As another poster mentioned, how is it that Canada still allows international flights to arrive everyday yet a Canadian bubble somehow presents a problem?

All I can get

The ECHL is playing right now to crowds of 2,000 - 6,000 in their respective cities.

This whole country needs to figure out how to open up the borders, as someone who has been travelling back and forth to europe and is on my 4th quarantine of the year because I'm not esssential, it's getting really tiresome that they haven't adopted testing or other measures.
Right now I could care less if they unless whatever graces they give the NHL find their way into helping the rest of us peasants.

Lol to opening the borders. Opening the borders to the US would be the stupidest thing they could do right now.

I have two questions about the tolling thing.
First, suppose the team doesn't want to toll the year - they want the contract over with sooner. I assume they just pay the player as if he's playing. But what are the cap consequences? For example, suppose Lucic opts out and the Flames don't want to toll the contract. Do they carry his whole cap hit despite having to replace him on the roster?
Second question. Suppose the team does toll the year, and the contract is therefore effectively extended for another year, such that one of the later years is in a year that isn't all screwed up by Covid. Isn't this good for players on player-friendly deals they aren't likely to improve on once their current contract is up? Oliver Ekman-Larsson for example.
