For our American friends, let’s put it this way. Stealing from an 82-year-old Walter Gretzky would be the equivalent of shooting a bald eagle while throwing a burning flag on Captain Kangaroo’s childhood home in the hopes of burning it to the ground.

Stealing from Walter who, by all accounts, is so open with the Wayne stuff and happy to discuss it with anyone. Despicable.

Not death penalty worthy, but certainly public shame worthy. Their names should be shared.

Brantford police confirmed that Ken Hadall, a 58-year-old from Oakville, Ont., was charged with theft over $5,000 and possession over $5,000 in connection to the theft of $500,000 (in U.S. funds, which is about $640,000 in Canadian funds) worth of memorabilia from the Gretzky home. They also confirmed that 58-year-old June Dobson, who is a senior Ontario Provincial Police officer in Grenville County, Ont., has been charged with fraud over $5,000 and breach of trust in connection to a stick from Wayne Gretzky’s childhood that was sold to a memorabilia dealer for $6,000.

What's even worse is that during the investigation they found another friend of Walter, and a police officer, was also stealing from him separately:

She was not stealing from the Gretzky's, but rather fraudulently misrepresenting the significance of the hockey stick in a private sale. Still scummy, but a necessary distinction to point out.
