Goodbye Copeland... . With Bo signing, and now this, you gotta know that JC is the odd man out, which I don't understand. He was a dominant WR with a QB that could get him the ball in Montreal. His numbers are down, not because of his production, but of Burris'. Horrible move by the Stamps IMO.
I can't get Copeland's last catch out of my head. Burris threw it behind Copeland. JC jumped, and stretched backwards to get anywhere close to the ball, and came up with a spectacular catch. It's not the WRs job to make the QB look that good... it's the QBs job to make the WRs look that good.

Actually I'd guess it is more of a goodbye to Rambo and/or Thurmon.
Copeland restructured his contract before the SMS kicked in, so I think unless he is an absolute no-show in training camp he'll remain with the team.
Top 4 of Lewis, Bo, Cope, and Thelwell - looks pretty darn good to me.

Yah, I agree with this. Not sure why it definately signals Copelands departure (although it could happen, yes, but its not a definitive thing to me).

Thurmon and or Rambo will be the ones leaving. Howell will stick around and I bet Ralph sticks around also.

The Stamps wouldn't lose anything by turfing Thurmon anyway. He's an average receiver and I wouldn't be surprised to see him out of the league if the Stamps let him go - especially at the $$$ he thinks he should be making.

I liked Thurmon, but it seemed he'd have to get his 1 or 2 drops in each game somewhere. Not something you want on second down. I'd take Thelwell over Thurmon any day.

Copeland restructured his contract so his cap hit is much less, so its not as big a deal.

There's a couple of rumours out there coming from Winnipeg...one involving receivers (taken from various cfl fansites...no official/entirely credible reports).
1) Copeland to the Bombers, as early as tomorrow?
2) Alex Gauthier sent to the Bombers for an American O-Lineman since the Thelwell signing can open up that spot..

Whatever happened to that rumor that the Stamps were going to sign that old Bengals bust Akili Smith or whatever his name was...did that go down?

That was noted in Petrie's column today as happening (burried at the end of the article on the acquisition of Garrick Jones)

He did signed with the Stamps. He is going to be an interesting QB. He was awesome in college and I really think he will fit in in the CFL. I think the Bengals rushed him to starting QB position and he did not respond to the challenges. Hey, you have to remember Jeff Garcia was a bust at the Cleveland Browns but look what happenned to him in Philly. Cleveland and Cincy Bengals are pretty much the same with their QB situations.
