Nice. This will give me a reason to watch. I usually skip the WJC if there's no Flames prospects involved.

Why? It's the best hockey played all year.

Just not really interested, to be honest. I always just watch to see how well the Flames prospects play, and hope they do well.

I rarely have interest in this tournament anymore but with the lack of NHL hockey and the Flames having 2 players on team Canada I am very interested in watching these games.

The world juniors are my favourite hockey as long as Canada is in contention. It doesn’t matter who are on the team; I love junior hockey.

The two co-captains and one alternate.

This tournament kind of lost its luster to me when TSN went all Tim Hortons and tried to manufacture it into some artificial Canadian pastime. That said I will definately be paying more attention to it this year seeing it's going to be the only source of hockey. Nice to see a few Flames make the team as well.

Is this tournament even going to happen in a state where all the teams are playing at full capacity?

Mcdonald, Hunter, Peplinski. Hunter and Peplinski are in track pants because they were scratched.

Glad to see both Zary and Pelletier on the team. I always watch the tourney but am more interested when the Flames have prominent prospects involved. I agree with EE on the TSN point. The entire broadcast can feel a bit hokey and the canonization of 18 and 19 year old players is a bit much.

Agreed with this. As I get older, I have less time to watch hockey so Flames games always wins against WJC. I'd rather the Flames win a regular season game in Dec/Jan than Canada win gold (except if a Flame prospect plays a prominent role on the team).

If Zary and Pelletier didn't make the team and Wolf was somehow the starter for the US, I'd be rooting for the US no question

The Brendan Parker interview with Zary and Pelletier on flames tv is pretty good. Pelletier talks about his perceived role as a "role player" and "shutdown" guy and how he really tried to show that to the coaches in the last 3 weeks. Might explain why that holloway-newhook-pelletier line has remained intact. Meanwhile Zary spoke about how he focused on displaying versatility in all forward positions, something we also saw a lot of during the scrimmages, and it looks like it worked to his benefit moving him up the lineup.

Both seem very dedicated. Zary has that same unshakeable confidence vibe that Tkachuk has, where Pelletier seems more of the calculated type. They seem to get along already too.

Also, and I mean this in the nicest way, Pelletier does the same "y'know" that Hartley used to do all the time. Love it lol.

First year since the one in Calgary where I've said to myself thank God for the World Juniors.

Will be very, very welcomed. These kids will have celeb status for a couple weeks cause all eyes coast to coast will be on them.

Pelletier is a natural LS/LW is he not? Would really help him make this Flames team if he can play both sides at a high level. Almost mandatory for this organization at this point.

Other than the shootouts in important games, the World Juniors are easily the most entertaining hockey of the year, every year. Gary Bettman wishes the Stanley Cup finals were this fun to watch.

The SO is part of what has turned me off it in recent times.

Doesn't belong in tournament play.
